More Bias

Dec 13, 2019, 7:47 AM

So the guy that missed the field goal that would of beat Usuck and then was 1/3 on FG against LSU is the best kicker in the nation. Got it!

I thought that was weird as well. In the biggest moments, he fails. Give me Treadwell any day.

10 for 10 against Notre Dame, Florida, Texas A&M

Dec 13, 2019, 8:05 AM

Each of those wins were by 7 points or less. Perfect XP for season.

Choked against U6C. No chance of beating LSU.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

His 2019 stats were worse than his 2018 and 2017

Dec 13, 2019, 7:57 AM

Good kicker and great career. This year struggled against U6C and LSU, but pretty great otherwise.

I don't think this is a career award, it's an annual award.

being in the SEC,

Dec 13, 2019, 8:01 AM

if he made a 44 yarder, it was an incredible kick, against all odds, into a strong left/right wind. If Potter makes a 50 yard FG, "he makes that one but has struggled this year from 50 and beyond."

Plus, it seemed he became the fan favorite since he was a walk on.

Just my take.

Potter is great at kickoffs, only 63% FG

Dec 13, 2019, 8:09 AM

Perfect from 50+. Stats don’t capture the other two misses versus UVA

GA kicker was 80% on FGs. Not even Close comparison.

I was just using that as an example of how ESPN looks at things.

Blankenship had great Overall career..

and i enjoyed watching him kick for years and felt for him when he missed the big ones recently.

No hate or glee from me for any young student-athlete!

I'm not saying he had a bad career and I wish the young man well. I thought this was for 2019 only and not a career. All I'm saying is some people can do something and it is incredible and then someone else can do the same exact thing and it is just average.

Speaking of bias...

Dec 13, 2019, 8:44 AM

at least towards the name brand SEC teams....the guy that won the Ray Guy award last night and got 1st Team All-American (and finished 1st in the nation in punting) didn't even get 1st team All-SEC by the coaches....pretty baffling.

AGREED! How did this kicker NOT WIN?

Dec 13, 2019, 11:31 AM

Sunday, November 24, 2019
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The conditions Saturday night were far from perfect for Wake Forest kicker Nick Sciba to set an NCAA record while booting four field goals.

But Sciba said he paid no attention to cool, rainy weather or the prospect of setting the NCAA record for consecutive made field goals in Wake Forest's 39-27 victory over visiting Duke.

The sophomore improved his streak to 32 with field goals of 38, 34, 44 and 25 yards -- breaking the former record with the 44-yarder in the third quarter -- as the Demon Deacons (8-3, 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) snapped a two-game losing streak.

Sciba hasn't missed a kick, and he's made all 91 career extra-point attempts, in Wake's last 20 games.
