Missing that very short field goal

Prior to half time helped add a lot of drama to the State game. Wish we could fix that before it really kills us

Yeah missing those FGs is big not only the points but it shifts momentum.
Its just kills us to keep missing those short FGs .
At this level a 40 yard FG should be almost automatic.

We had quite a few momentum killers in both the State

and Cuse games and all of them were simple things that really shouldn't happen.

1) We tied the game at 7 against Cuse, forced a punt, moved the ball down the field again only to miss a 35 yd FG.

2) Muse gets the scoop and score to tie the game at 14, but then gets the bone-headed 15 yard penalty that ends up setting Cuse up at the 40 on their next possession.

3) We tie the score at 24, force a punt, move into FG range and then miss a 38 yarder to take the lead.

4) Spence kicks the ball OOB after the Ray Ray punt return to set State up at the 35. They go on to score a TD.

5) Missed 39 yard FG before the half

6) Spence kicks the ball OOB after the long Feaster TD run that put us up 10. State goes on to score a TD.

Just noticed that 5/6 of these were Spence. I feel bad for the kid, but my goodness. I'll never say another negative thing about Huegel for the rest of his career.

Too late to fix what happened before the half in the State game. Wish we could fix the loudmouth we heard after the game.

Obviously we will never get anything more out of Alex Spence. Dude just doesn’t have it. We were lucky he made one of his kicks.

missed fg is essentially a turnover in most cases

They missed one as well, so it sort of evened out.

I thought the KOs that went out of bounds were a much more egregious error in our kicking game than the missed FG.

Spence never had it from day 1. Finding Huegel in the BiLo parking lot shows you this. We will have 3 scholarship kickers on the team next year with Potter coming on. Spence was a wasted scholly.
