Military Benefits

Jun 7, 2022, 3:06 PM

My son will be attending in August as a freshman this year as an out of state student. Am currently in the Navy Reserves with 21 years and will be reenlisting next month for 3 more years.

Besides the Post 9/11 and the GI Bill would there be anything else that he may qualify for.

Got totally burned a week or two ago by a first time poster asking for admissions advice. I put my heart and soul into a reply and really got left hanging in wind. Just a lot of trust issues that I'm working through.

Is he the reservist or you? If he is, reach out to the Veterans outreach program in the admissions office. If not, then gotta go through the VA to make sure your post 9/11 benefits are transferable to him.

some type of training? If so, you should be eligible for the Post 911 GI Bill 100% which would only pay for 100% of the in-state rate. Not to worry though. Clemson participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, Clemson would pay half of the remaining balance after the GI Bill and the VA would match it.

He should also qualify for a $1395 monthly housing allowance, and $1000 a year for books and supplies
Make sure though that you call the VA's at (888) 442-4551 to make sure of this. Be willing to stay on hold for 30 minutes or so. Also, contact Clemson and make sure they give you the same info:

Shoot me a tmail if you have further questions.
