Which WR spot will Cornell Powell play?

May 17, 2016, 11:50 AM

He looks like a natural runner with the size to be a Wayne Gallman like running back with better speed. He's run back a number of kickoffs for touchdowns. He's an excellent punt returner. He put on a show in the Shrine Bowl against the best. Seems to have excellent explosiveness and top speed.

Would love to see what he can do getting the ball the way we use Artavis Scott. Is that a possibility or will he end up on the outside?

Guess the better question is will they use him like they

May 17, 2016, 12:16 PM

use Scott or more like a traditional wide receiver, given his size and running skills.

if he plays the 2, then yes - that's the role and the why

ray-ray is there. it's sort of clemson's version of tavon austin; you might remember him - mr. do-it-all and he sure done it all to clemson in the ob.

In my mind he's a 5, but he's pretty versatile***

Hard to tell, he's awesome at everything.

He's a matchup nightmare for any position on the defense.

Mike William's back up and kick-off returner this year,

He is WR not a running back at all, and we don't need anymore rb's! However, 2017, he will probably be first team Clemson and All ACC!

He's not a RB, but I've watched HS & College teams motion younger talented WR's into the backfield to give them a running start on wheel routes or just to get them the ball in space in the flats.

That's something I hope we do because he will cause major anxiety for a defense in that position & when that happens a QB like DW4 will kill a confused defense with all the other targets we have.

Just don't hand the ball off to him like we did Sammy against LSU, WR's don't need to take straight handoffs imo. We have #9 for that.
