MIKE

I am a fan of middle linebacker. Few teams ever have a great one.
Great teams have talent
Talent is strong, quick, and fast.

One of the best ever TIGERs was a kid who had to beg to get here. He was cut out until Coach V arrived. That would be Ben Boulware. The NFL did not want him due to measurables. Their loss.
All Ben did at Clemson was be Defensive MVP at the Natty. In every game he was all out. He might be the first to tackle but if not was on the way to help. Never has there been a better TIGER! He was a team player. All who think we win that year without Ben raise your hand.

James Skalski is similar. He is not high on NFL lists. To them he lacks "measurables".
Is he Ben? Nope, he is James. I expect great things from him. How great is it he in on the team? If he never plays a snap, still is very valuable.
He will play most every snap until the game is in hand. No team has a MIKE that is his equal. Good luck defending against him.

There was an obvious difference when Skalski had to sit during those games.

Ben Lived the Dream at Clemson

He maxed out his ability and left it all on the field. Gotta respect a guy like that. Going to another level in big games showed how much heart he brought.

Boulware wasn't athletic enough for the NFL. Just the way it is. The game is played differently and wasn't for him. Heart wasn't enough.

IMO, Skalski is every bit as good as Boulware and has a shot at the NFL because he is a better athlete. I think he could stick as a special teams guy.

My favorite thing about Ben Boulware was his heart and desire. His greatest strength was his knowledge. He knew where the play was going 90% of the time. Biggest weakness was athleticism. He would get beat in coverage and RBs/WRs would beat him in one on ones in space. But minority of the time he would meet them in the gaps and punish them.

Mr. Skalski was a fav of mine in his class. He reminded me of Ben but with more athleticism. Make no mistake, James has a few legs up on Ben’s talent max. I do believe he gets, at least, on to a 2022 roster.

Both players have been a lot of fun to watch.***

I can not imagine any other linebacker willing to forgo the draft to play a 6th year in college.

Both of these LB’s

Are very intense players who love the game of football, Ben could have been our mascot too if we didn’t already have the best one ever. We could have Ben the Fighting Boulware’s. Ben’s heart was HUGE and he loved every minute of it.

James has the measurable’s to play in the NFL. He really got a couple of targeting that were very questionable if we are still playing football. It’s hard for a player like him to play soft when folding a RB or WR like a chair.

I look for an injury free year for him with plenty of depth to keep him fresh. Let’s go Tigers!

Ben was never going to be able to play LB in today's NFL
