I was watching the Yankees/Royals game and thought about

ARod's career and the PED's he took to get an advantage. For some reason, I then thought about college football and how the NCAA can and will take away wins from programs/coaches who did not abide by the rules. Why doesn't MLB take away HR's, RBI's, hits, wins etc. from ARod, Bonds, Clemens, McGwire etc.? Just something that crossed my mind yesterday.
BTW....Go Clemson Baseball!!!

never sniff the Hall Of Fame is punishment enough in baseball's eyes. I mean come on, look at the way they treat Pete Rose.

I understand but putting their numbers ahead of Aaron, Gehrig, Ruth, Nolan Ryan, Steve Carlton, Tom Seaver, etc. is not fair. I have mixed emotions on Rose, maybe put his numbers in the HOF but not him? I don't know.

You take away the wins in college during the tenure the coach who violated the rules. Take away an average during the years the athlete took the PEDs. If they only avg. 30/HRs and 110/Rbis, and jumped to 45/hrs and 145/rbis, drop them down to their averages. Again, I don't know. Greg Maddux won approx. 355 wins and either didn't cheat or wasn't caught. Clemens would have won 300 but not 350.

Not that simple. MLB had very weak rules on PEDs. Their records are tarnished by PEDs and will likely not get in the HOF, i.e, Clemmons, but rules were not in place.

That has a ripple effect

if you take away someone's HRs that was on PEDs, do you also deduct the number of HRs given up by pitchers?
If a pitcher is found to have taken PEDs, do you bump up every batters HR totals, hits and average?
If a fielder is found to have taken PEDs do you give a batter credit for a hit that someone who wasn't roided up wouldn't have gotten too?

good points. It just crossed my mind. Hammerin Hank is still the Home Run King, etc. I don't know and really don't have an argument. I just don't think it is fair to see ARod pass Willie Mays in HRs, pass Babe Ruth in RBI's etc. I'm sure PEDs are being used in high school and college.

I still hold firm that Henry Aaron is the home run king and Roger Maris is the single season home run king.

Agree 100% roger Maris was a humble guy who broke the record under this of pressure. Even the yankee fans didn't like him

Mays/Aaron weren't exactly "clean"

Amphetamines were a huge part of the game the same way steroids were in the 90s/early 2000s. Both were in a legal grey area but are now explicitly banned.

First link I found after a quick google search. Such a huge part of the game I don't think people appreciate. Players would be hopped up for the game and would booze hard at night to come down. It was a pretty dangerous cycle

Thanks for sharing. Now I have a different view. Nolan Ryan is still my all time favorite. I used to love collecting baseball cards until the market became saturated. My four year old is getting a complete set from Santa Claus 2015 Topps.

I'm only 24 but it drives me nuts when people in my generation whine that they can't get into baseball cause it's too slow and boring. Baseball has been hugely successful for over a century. Baseball isn't the problem, it's kids that can't get off the #### phone
End rant.
