I have faith in Dabo, but...

He's big on being humble and I think he's getting another lesson in humility. Last year and the OSU vote thing was just stupid. Hopefully he's learned from that. Whatever is going on here, perhaps he'll learn from too! Time for hard lessons.

He isn't willing to admit we have problems on offense for some reason. I know he doesn't want opponents to know some things but you need to address the areas of concern. Today's offense looked identical to last weeks game. It appears they didn't change a thing. This offense has got to get more imaginable. Everything they run is basic stuff that they are looking for.

I don't think you have to do that publicly

And I see no reason to think he isn't doing it privately.
Now, the ability to fix it is now what remains to be seen, but like it or not, if you're looking for a coach who is going to be negative in public then that isn't Dabo.

I said this a few days ago, and got blasted for it

but I’m not sure Dabo and Elliott know how to fix our offensive issues.
They have always had generational talent to work with. Watson, Lawrence, and Etienne each hold multiple records. Throw in incredible receivers like Higgins, Rodgers, Scott, and Renfrow, and that’s an insane collection of talent that can overcome subpar schemes and plays.
For the amazing recruiting we have done, we haven’t had to make any significant changes to our offense in the last 5 years. We haven’t had major problems to fix like we do now.
When I said that I’m not sure they know how to fix our offensive issues, it wasn’t a criticism at all. I think they are both really smart guys. Their success speaks for itself. But this is new territory for them. Our poor offense this year, with seemingly nothing different or better from game 1 to game 4 this year, is quite telling.
Here’s to them getting it figured out soon.

For once I agree with you. If only you had the ability to view basketball through the same lens

Problems/Future 1. Dabo is afraid DJ will “go portal” if he is benched this season 2. Team chemistry is bad due to DRPepper & BoJangles NILs 3. TE misses Jeff Scott’s play selection moxey 4. Injuries today will really hurt our Defense 6. Won’t win Atlantic 7. Might get second tier bowl 8. After next Spring DJ will “go portal” after Cade beats him out.

At this point I'm not sure DJ going portal is a bad thing. He may excel somewhere else but he's not going to here, not at this point. I agree that Dabo and TE don't have a clue how to fix things at this point. I personally don't think TE is football bright enough to come up with any schemes that will work and fit the personnel we have, especially with this terrible OL.

They’ve probably been slowly changing chads playbook

Throwing out plays that are to complicated or didn’t work and now with limited play selection and poor talent and leadership at QB this is the product. I agree TE does not give me confidence he can change or develop a scheme. I think he is good at calling plays someone else has drawn up at the right time but I don’t see him being an offensive visionary. Even if it’s a Co coordinator we need someone else with feedback into the playbook.

We need a new offensive coordinator

Our schemes/ routes and play calling are stale. Time for an overhaul - fresh ideas to utilize our talent. Defense is fine.

How many times tonight were our 4 plays: run up middle, screen pass, throw downfield, and punt. I called it 2 or 3 times. Very sad.

From what I have seen from DJ, I think we recruited the wrong guy for our system. He is struggling too. Folks KB performed better and could present the dual threat. No one fears DJ in the run game. Through in a high school offensive scheme and we have no shot.

Agree with the success we’ve had with mobile

And dual threat quarterbacks I don’t understand why we went after him. Was it just to say we got someone from California? Did all of the good dual threat guys go elsewhere because they didn’t want to sit behind Trevor? I thought maybe he would be smart and innovative, be able to change plays and read coverage to make up for his lack of mobility but since obviously he can’t and he can’t run and he can’t throw and he can’t even look off a DB with his eyes what was the draw to recruiting him?
