Maximizing Operational Capability

Mar 30, 2021, 11:49 AM

Ms. Hui-Su should have joined the United States Special Operations Command and become a special forces warrior after leaving the S. Korean Army.

https://www.hopclear.com/transgender-soldier-kicked-out-of-south-korean-army-found-dead/

because SOCOM's D&I Plan says that taking in Ms. Hui-Su would "maximize operational capability." Think I am kidding. Here it is:

https://www.socom.mil/Documents/Diversity%20Mag%202021%20final.pdf

We know that our force does not represent the diversity of our larger society – a fact that should give us pause.

We know that leveraging a diverse force strengthens our ability to compete and win.

Diversity and inclusion are operational imperatives and SOF leaders must consistently and unapologetically message this truth throughout the formation at all echelons.

----------
Prayers for Ms. Hui-Su and her family. I apologize for bringing her into this, but it has to be done to make a point.

If a transgender person wants to volunteer to risk their lives fighting for American freedom, I think they should be able to do so without catching a bunch of bullyshitt from their commanders or their fellow soldiers. I think we (and they) should just say thank-you for your service.

What is it about these soldiers that bothers you so much ??

They have to pass the physical tests anyway. It's not like they will be a Navy Seal or anything generally.

I agree with your statement,

"If a transgender person wants to volunteer to risk their lives fighting for American freedom, I think they should be able to do so without catching "

but will add the following caveats:

The tans person:
-shall not in any way shape of form REDUCE the fighting performance of the organization
-should have had to pass and maintain the same standards as everyone else, to include mental health standards
-shall not put a significantly increased short or long term financial burden on the DoD health system

OTOH propping up the trans person I would add:
-The trans person should be able to serve w/o hassle from the other Soldiers
--If the trans person is hassled, bosses should come down hard on the hassler
-The trans person should qualify for all positions, awards, and promotions the same as other Soldiers

This is truly the ONLY way to accommodate people like this. There ain't no way in he|| you get a trans person in the SF who gets by half-a$$ing things. They will not survive their peers. They have to earn their respect like everyone else.

Telling the soldiers they have to "believe and echo the fact that diversity is an imperative" is not going to work in itself.

NC

To me the whole document seems to be the brass saying exactly what I am saying.

These people are on the TEAM - and we are not going to stand for any extraneous bullyshitt about them being on the TEAM. We will expect your to treat and support them just like any other member of the TEAM - or you may find yourself off of the TEAM.

Since we're here

do you have any specific complaints with SOCOM's policies? Or did you just see the word diversity and get upset?

Re: Since we're here

Not sure what you call "policies"...the entire D&I document can be considered a policy. And, yes, it is full of bunk.

Take the first sentence: All of us understand diversity and inclusion are operational imperatives.

This is BS. Diversity and inclusion is NOT an operational imperative. Bringing that statement into existence is the first step in the troops having zero confidence in superiors, and we know what happens after that.

So the latter?

Mar 30, 2021, 1:53 PM

Please find some tangible effect of this document, not "it hurts racists' feelings." Nowhere does it say about recruiting or accepting anyone who is less than qualified. Also, we all noticed the first sentence thing like a child giving a book report on something he didn't read.
