M. Cristobal -- Miami Football

May 9, 2022, 10:43 PM

We've talked for years about how Clemson's dominance of ACC Football has gone from great to expected and bad for strength of schedule. And every year, a team or two has surfaced and been competitive or semi-competitive. IMHO Mario Cristobal and Miami will be that competitor Clemson has been seeking. He recruits, he's arrogant, he grew up in Miami, he plays the endorsement & booster game, and Miami will be a natural in the NIL world. Miami Football donations are apparently up. We'll see what happens ...

I think you have a fair argument,

but he ain’t got Nike money anymore. Miami was successful and then got caught cheating to an absurd degree. We’ll just have to see if he’s worth his salt when NIL becomes a regulated entity.

When he can prove that he won't poo the bed 2-3 games a year, then I believe Miami is a threat again.

He's a .500 coach with a (62-60) & (3-3) bowl record.

He will find his way to Ole Miss eventually then.***

Not a fan. But I agree that the money will be flowing in south Florida.

recruits and transfers and calling it NIL. So I suspect you are onto something here.

Maybe... we keep waiting for some ACC teams to do well and

help the conference gain some respect. Last year was a bit odd, as we were down (obviously) and the ACC Championship game featured Pitt vs Wake. Now, they earned the right to play for the ACC title, but let's be honest, neither of those teams are a blip on the radar from a national perspective. Pitt vs Wake... Oh boy, let's throw a big party for this huge matchup. You know what I mean...

The ACC desperately needs Miami and FSU (or even UNC, Va Tech)... to field some good/great teams. Teams that at least have some name recognition and history. Clemson and the 13 dwarfs have not been good for the reputation of the ACC lately, nor our strength of schedule. I'm assuming of course that we hold up our part of the deal and have at least a solid Top 10 team if not playoff caliber.
