Love me some ESPN straight up neutral reporting

Dec 30, 2019, 2:46 PM

"This is a controversial call, as Lawrence, too, lowered his head in bracing for impact. If Wade keeps his head up, he maybe isn't penalized. Alas, the penalty gives Clemson a second chance, and the Tigers take advantage."

Alas? Alas??? W T H?

"Anybody that says Coach Brownell is the best coach to come through Clemson is going to start an argument." -JP Hall

I’m not a referee or a fine ESPN article writer,

But even I can grasp lowering one’s head and leading with the crown of the helmet is no longer controversial.

Wade had him. Could have hit him anywhere. Chose to ear hole him w the crown of helmet. Also tried to twist him and fall on his ankle to cause further damage. This wasnt even open to debate. My wife yelled targeting before I did.

The broadcast replay "official" reversed both calls and explained why before the on field calls were made. Someone may have already posted this but I have not seen it.

ESecPN is gonna lay a golden turf when Clemson beats LSU and burst their little bubble like we did last year against Bama......gonna be fun to watch the meltdown AGAIN.....Go Tigers!!!!!

So is the takeaway that you prefer "as a result" to "alas"?***

I guess they expected TL to see the targeting was....

...coming and should have kindly exposed his body in a more accommodating manner to ensure there was no controversy for the media and OSU fans. Oh wait...for the OSU fans, that would not have made a difference.

It was targeting.
Maybe not deliberate, but by rule.
