Louisville Trip

Sep 18, 2017, 8:34 AM

Enjoyed the trip. Met several cordial UL fans. Not my cup of tea, but they have an atmosphere that suits them.

We left Thursday, stayed in Knoxville, and had dinner at Calhoun's on the River. Nice location; food was okay. Friday night we went down to 4th Street Live. Guy Fieri's BBQ restaurant was FOR REAL.

Went to Churchill Downs early Saturday. Bet on three horses - a winner, a last place finisher, and another winner. Left with $16 net winnings. It was a fun atmosphere, and the races were close enough together to keep it interesting. Ubered back after taking the LONG walk over.

Pre-game meal at Coconut Beach, a Mexican place behind the east side of the stadium. Limited game day menu; the carnitas street tacos were unbelievable.

Walked across the street for Tiger Walk, and while waiting for the buses I noticed a couple UL fans holding a banner that read: NOT IN OUR HOUSE! One of them looked at me, smiled, and said, "You agree - right?!" I chuckled and calmly replied, "Won't even be close. We're gonna eff you up pretty bad tonight." I sort of surprised myself, but that was my gut reaction. Glad I was right.

Cut back to one road trip this season, and thankfully it was a good one. I plan to be there again in two years.

in Louieville at Slugger Bat Store (ordered 2 regulation Orange wood Bats with custom wording), walked town & saw some great old building front facades & ate at neat sidewalk restaurant for lunch, bused over to Race Track for bourbon drinks & BBQ at Clemson Alumni luncheon, watched several horse races and then bused over to game & another Bourbon b/4 enjoying the win.
