Any suggestions on where to stay in Louisville for the game? Better stay closer to the stadium or downtown?

The Seelbach was amazing as is 4th street. I’d definitely stay there again. Free gameday parking at Churchill Downs. Eating at Jeff Ruby’s is a must. All around awesome away game trip.

Stay downtown. Lots of stuff to do downtown.

I've been twice. Last time, two years ago, we stayed at a Hilton Garden that was an easy walk to the stadium. Ran into lots of folks on the walk and got handed several beers resulting in my missing most of the first half due to going back and forth to the restroom. But it was a blast.

The time before we stayed somewhere on the outskirts of town...forget where or what hotel...and it was a drive to the stadium and to downtown. Wouldn't recommend that.

If you stay downtown you'll probably have to drive or Uber to the game, but then you won't need a car to enjoy downtown before and after. For me, Louisville downtown is ok but not great at night. On the other hand, the distilleries are open during the day and I really enjoy touring them.

If you have any interest in bourbon at all I'd suggest you build a few tours into your plans. Depending on how much time you have that might swing it in favor of staying downtown. We went to Old Forester last time (downtown) and it's probably the best overall one I've been on. If you have more time, you might hit some spots outside Louisville. We've stayed in and visited distilleries near Bardstown and that was a lot of fun...neat small town to go with a number of distilleries. If you have time to explore outside of Louisville, then maybe you stay closer to the stadium for the game.

Either way, it's a good trip.

I rented a 4 Bedroom on AirBnB in the Highlands area. I stayed in the area around the stadium last time and it was too run down and slummy for my tastes. I did a lot of research and the Highlands area has a lot of highly rated bars and restaurants and is just a few miles from the stadium. The downtown area will be packed with fellow Clemson fans but I'm not a fan of tourist trap establishments.

and took in the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum.

We've also stayed just across the Ohio River in Indiana.
