Mack Brown

Nov 11, 2021, 11:04 PM

turned 70 this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires after this season.

I think it may hinge on what he has coming back next year.

Give or take a year. Does Mack have a ten year plan?

Hate to say it but Nancy St is gonna smoke UNC. This same thread may reappear..

Mack is loved in Chapel Hill and he will not be fired or retire after this year. He’s done a great job recruiting and deserves some time. Do we suck this year? Yes!! He’s made some boneheaded game management decisions but there’s a lot of sucking to go around with the other coaches and players. I think Mack will try to see the program take another step forward before giving it up. Will it happen? Who knows? It’s UNC football!

Lost the game on odd 2 point conversion decision.

Nov 11, 2021, 11:47 PM

Made no sense.

Pitt had missed extra point. UNC scored TD to get within 10 at 23-13, decided to go for 2. Didn't make it.

Later UNC scores TD (and kicks extra point) and FG to tie game, but would have gone up by 1 if not for bone headed 2 point conversion try.

Bad decision.

They went for 2 to try to make it a 1 score game. I understand it but it was a little early for that call i think.

The golden rule. Don’t chase points til the 4th quarter. He started chasing in the 3rd and it costs him.

I think he’ll wait at least one more year with the recruiting classes he’s built in the last two years as well as the momentum he has in recruiting for this year. Another 6-6 season next year and we probably we’ll see him retire though.

Love to see Mack retire after this season (but I doubt it).

If Mack retires, then maybe Travis Shaw de-commits and Clemson gets another shot at him.

He looks to me like there is something wrong with him health wise when they show him on the sidelines during games…I know he is 70 and overweight and has people doing most decision making fir him which is all normal..but when they show him he just looks unhealthy and like he is disengaged or off in lala land somewhere..:heis a good guy Amd I sure hope all is well but something looks off to me with him!!!

Good observation and I agree that something seems off. I understand he lost his brother a few weeks ago and they were very close. But he doesn’t look right. He’s put on a massive amount of weight. I’m wondering if the new environment in college sports has left some of the old guys disillusioned. There’s no doubt it turned Roy Williams off. I’m just speculating of course.

Well he is a good coach, good person and good for college football. I hope he can stay for several years.

I know nothing. But, I'm thinking that Elliott might be considered for that, or any other ACC job, that might open.
