Anyone who thinks this program isn't in a regression must have their head examined.
I know the pumpers will point to 2018, but we must focus on the now.
This reminds me of the Bobby Bowden tumble when the FSU OL started deteriorating.
I said I was not sold on Cade, but it could just be the development. DJ and Cade were both #1 QB recruits, and one is transferred, and the other stunk up a bowl game against a BAD Tennessee passing offense.
The offensive production is at 50th in the country out of about 120 teams. The defense is ranked 70th is passing.
What went wrong?

offense than dju. However, we totally agree on the lack of OL and WR execution for sure! I think we both agree we really have never had a stellar OL under Dabo. the QB/WR/RB skill made up for it. just compare the wrs/rbs/qb vs OL in the nfl. On the flip side, the DL/LBs/DBs on the defense in the nfl is pretty cool.......

PBT… agreed with a lot…But I would counter that Cade got very very poor protection all night and he plays with less than elite wide receivers.
Playcalling, at times, does him no good either. We should’ve run the ball much more in the second quarter.

Look, I know the losses hurt but Cade isn't the problem. He can't throw the ball, catch it, block rushers and play defense too. He just threw for over 300 yards against the #6 ranked team in the country. Lets not pull the plug on him just yet. Fix the offensive line giving up multiple sacks and double digit hurries/free runs to the QB then lets see where things go. Its got to start in the trenches, work your way out from there. If he gets more time to throw maybe that extra second or so lets a WR get separation, or a RB to break out of the flat. He can't dodge human missiles all night and be expected to drop dimes. He was a freshman, not a 5th year senior with an NFL ready line. The O-line and the D-line both need a huge strength evaluation, because they are getting pushed around like Div II players which is honestly unacceptable with the talent that's here.

ProtoTiger, you made me laugh at your first 2 sentences because those words were almost verbatim what Dabo said about DJ after the SC game. I'm reading all of these comments and just shaking my head about how many people are defending Cade like Dabo defended DJ yet when Dabo did it everyone got mad about it.

It's the truth though. The young man played as hard as he could but he can't do everything. I just want an above average O-line once with a good QB. Then we could really see what needs addressing. It all starts in the trenches, always has. We've had mediocre, middling and below average, and maybe an average line once but not much else.

I agree with you but you may also recall how a whole lot of folks were saying if we just get rid of DJ and put Cade in everything else will work out just fine. I think most people recognize there are a lot of holes in the ###, not just one.

I do, as a matter of fact I've taken quite a few thumbs down for bringing that up tonight. That's ok though, if it makes them feel better that's their choice. I don't need to stealth dislike posts to feel better about myself. I downvote posts that are pot stirring or people just being disingenuous but I digress. All of the true fans here want the same thing, for our Tigers to win every game every week. Some take losses harder than others. I just hate seeing people try to tear down young men over a game. Not pointing fingers at anyone here, just saying I wish some wouldn't get so carried away trying to find someone to blame. Thats all.

Good point. If you want to see a program that recruits and seeks to dominate between the tackles on both sides of the ball, pull up a chair and watch the next dynasty from Athens tonight. You have to have an elite OL to make a goofy 7 year walk on like Bennett look like a world beater. Kirby has the formula. Got it from Saban. Clemson has never made the trenches a priority.

Cade did not stink up the bowl game. That’s ridiculous. Ran for 50 and threw it for 320. Blame the OC for not getting plays in the endzone or blame potter for missing 3 FG’s.
He made mistakes, but that’s to be expected. Kid played really well for that to be his first start and getting blown up every other passing play.

He did his best, he had his freshman moments and the lack of experience showed at the wrong times but I agree, the majority of the blame lies elsewhere.
