the US economy spiraling downward like a weak flushing toilet is largely the result of the failed policies of the Dems and the Biden administration. The US economy was in decline before Putin invaded Ukraine.

76er you must have been doing something right. As soon as the gas prices rose a year and 1/2 ago mine has been on a downward trend, but I am probably more vested in higher risk as well.

Also all the un-doing of all the legislation Trump put into place for domestic oil companies to thrive and produce. He did that day one because of his promise of green energy, yet has no problem sending the Saudis billions of dollars to run theirs, that do it the same way--but worse, not to mention his recent trip there to beg them for more help, and getting turned down. Thanks for the $5 a gallon gas Biden administration!

You will not hear a word about it from most media unlike the last one under a Republican administration where they talked about it for a year in advance before it actually happened.

Here's a tip from an old grandma, every time you post your point to your argument you are boosting the original post you don't like. Just go away and ignore.
On the other hand, our country is in a world of hurt and pretending the admin isn't at fault doesn't help.

Add on the additional tax on big money corporations.

All that says is that corporations receiving this additional tax will tack on added cost to myself or they will cut jobs. Sounds like a solid plan as usual.

Does it seem unusual to anyone else that we are worried about saving the planet so much that we quit producing much of anything but are happy to buy it from other countries that are not aligned with the US’s plan to save the world… or does the US live in a bubble and the dirty air from countries that produce our goods not affect us?

Appearances may be deceiving. It isn't official until declared by the National Bureau of Economic Research. This article explains the official (and somewhat subjective) definition.

https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2022-07-28/is-this-a-recession-explainer

Bottom line, while GDP is down two consecutive quarters, other indicators like employment are up, so we may not be in a recession "officially".

Re: Well it appears we are officially in a recession. Guess

Jul 29, 2022, 7:11 AM

At the end of the day, it is the condition of people's wallets that determine the recession. No formal definition is needed. Only the blowhard politicians need to argue about it. Their own advancement is their motivation, not what is best for the people.
