Looking back at the Boulware suplex

Nov 11, 2016, 4:20 PM

What if dude had've had a back or neck injury from it. We'd all have felt like crap, including mr. boulware, whether it was legal or not. Just sayin'

I'd have felt worse if he let go and guy ran for a TD or another 30 yards... just saying. It's football

Sirry, but we can what if until the cows come home. This is why girls don't play the game. You play until you HEAR a whistle.

I hear ya.. but did you see Tommy Armstrong in Nebraska game

Nov 11, 2016, 4:26 PM

last week? Looked terrible and he was barely hit..
Or how about DW at Ga Tech 2 yrs ago?
Wasnt even touched

Its football. Ben made a play. Nobody was hurt, and it wasn't a play with dirty intent.

Flipside.. what if that was the Lville game.. Quick is trying to get to the 1st down marker to extend the game and go for the win. If Ben makes the exact same tackle, we and the media talk about what a tough competitior he is and amazing tackle to save the game (assuming they don't flag it).

they never got hurt if they got that suplexed.

Heck, I can't remember anyone ever getting a 3 count from it (unless they were wrapped up and their tights were being pulled on...which is a totally illegal move you know).

Hey, Guys.......

Yes, it's football, but what Boulware did is called "unnecessary roughness". If you'd ever played the game, you'd know that's true, whistle or no whistle.

About 60 years ago, my father posted a poem above the toilet in his hardware store where I worked for him as a 12 year old kid who was into hunting, fishing, playing football, baseball and learning about life. The poem was written by the most famous sports editor of all time, Grantland Rice, writing for the Atlanta Journal and I'm sure my father posted it for me to read every time I visited the room.... it went like this:

For When the One
Great Scorer comes
to write against your name,

He writes - not that
you Won or Lost,
but How You Played the Game.

My father and I never discussed that poem - we didn't have to..... and I will never forget the message.
