Do you think the Repubs would even move an inch from where things are right now? I really don't think they would. What things do you think the Repubs would find common ground?

I know how we can find common ground. They can all agree that we have a 2nd amendment and that it shall not be infringed upon. That’s the only common ground I’m interested in.

You can ban AR-15's and it would not be infringed upon the 2nd amendment. It doesn't say what arms anyway. I don't care if they do or don't but just pointing that out. You could still bear arms. Even without something like that, there might be some things that aren't extreme.

Why not just ban everything except bb guns? After all, it doesn't mention which arms. LOL

Democrats even take that bait is because the courts would eat it alive likely leading to even more strikes on state/local gun control.

and concur. It's all about getting elected and nothing else. They are not the least bit interested in passing legislation.

If Democrats put a smart red flag law together

I think it would be real close and possibly even filibuster proof. Red flag laws are a growing issue on the Right and some vulnerable Republicans might be smart enough to see the writing on the wall. Dems would have to not give them a reason to be against it, so no overreach.

Who gets to decide who gets a “red flag”? Facebook? Twatter? The “truth czar”? Comey, Strzok?

Actually quozzel thinks Hunter Biden is a waste of human flesh and has said so, repeatedly. I actually think I used the words "it would not surprise me if Hunter got caught trying to dispose of a Russian rocket launcher in a Starbucks trash can, that seems pretty much like his speed."
I can link to that if you want. But you'd just forget it tomorrow anyway, because, well, that's you.
Putting words that are completely the opposite of what people actually say is why so many people are utterly contemptuous of you, Karen. You just make stuff up out of whole cloth, completely disregard what people actually say, then whine like, well, a Karen with borderline personality syndrome when you're called on it. If you want anyone to ever take you seriously you maybe need to stop doing that.
And my actual approach to life is: "what would actually work?" I definitely think a cooling-off period for buying something like an AR-15 and far more extensive background checks would not be a bad idea...but they're pointless if people can't decide what they're actually looking for.
Some psych folks have come up with a pretty solid profile for what creates these ticking time bombs, but the practical mechanics of how you'd implement this knowledge in such a way you're successfully identifying and interdicting them before they stroll out of the gun shop with an assault weapon they intend to use to empty some rooms...that's the hard part, and where the rubber will meet the road.
To me, it isn't impossible and it isn't about the guns. Forget about the guns; we're America, we could seize a million guns a day and we'd have three years work ahead of us. We aren't ever going to get rid of the guns, for better or worse we're armed to the teeth.
So how do we ID the crazies before they pop, and keep that gun out of their hands? https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/05/27/stopping-mass-shooters-q-a-00035762

well, you do say some rally stupid ####. I am not sure the gun store owner should be the one deciding who is crazy or not, and certainly, and this is just me spit balling with free market principles, is more than likely gonna error on the side of selling the gun(s) and 500 round of ammo, as was the case here.
It does not seem like you would need a law for this right, just common sense by a gun store owner, or should we focus more on thoughts and prayers? I know that seems to work well too.

Susan Rice would be the right person for the job, and he dutifully responded. The idea that Biden has original thoughts, ideas, or anything resembling a vision for the country and a plan how to get there, is laughable.

All of the entrenched politicians are bad, but the democrats and this administration in particular are third-world-level corrupt.
