I think that is why the entire staff is out on the recruiting trail. Keep what we have and hopefully add a few.

Transfer portal for a 1-2 year stop gap. You’ll find quality there and it’ll be better depth than having a HS player you wouldn’t normally take on the roster for the next 4-5 years. I imagine some of the transfer players just want to play on a winning team, and might be willing to come to compete without being promised a starting role, especially considering it’s more about rotations these days.

QBs that have already lost a QB battle are not looking for another battle. They all want a promise that they will start. Clemson would never do that. Very few will get what they are seeking.

lots of those portal players lost to really good QBs. Just bc they got beat out does not mean they are unworthy. That mentality is what has hurt Clemson so far.
Love DJ, but if I'm a portal QB I'm dying to come to Clemson.

That’s possible, but we’re locking at a season with a QB who couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, another that will be recovering from ACL surgery and might be a full time WR now, a true freshman and a walk-on. Idk if you have to promise the job, or just promise the job is open.

We are going to replace our second string transfer with a kid in the portal that is transferring because he doesn’t want to be second string? I’m not buying it.

Well seriously think about this? There are hundreds of reasons players want to transfer. Some kids may go to school because his HS girlfriend went to that school and they broke up. Now QB wants to change schools. There are QBs in the TP because the coach left, or because they didn't focus and go beat out, or just don't gel with the city life and prefers country life?? Can be multitude of reasons? But there are still young guys that believe in their skills and willing to compete. I think there are players where Clemson is just a better fit!

I believe the intent was to take between 17 and 20, and we have 14 commits right now. I'm not aware of many 4 or 5 stars still on the board for us.

Thanks. Was just reading an article on Dindy. Dissapointed as stoops went to see him today and he reaffirmed its between them and aTm. Tweeted he would not be opening his recruiting up.
Was hoping this might be our chance. I'm sure Dabo and staff are working non stop on committed recruits with coaches leaving.

This is what blows my mind. Why are we not recruiting the portal right now. Not all transfer portal transfers are starting right now. To say they won’t transfer to compete against a player we have they think they can beat is crazy. Everyone else is making it work.

2022 Final Signing day is two months later (Feb/ 2022).

There is an early signing day in December, and another signing day in February 2022. The February signing day used to be the only signing day.
We can easily bring in more scholarship players for the 2022 class in the February 2022 signing day.

Sure, we could bring in 100 HS kids if we wanted. The problem is, we’re not just bringing in crap that’ll ride the pine for 4-5 years. Might as well bring on walk ons at that point. You want to bring in people that can actually help now in case they need to play now.
