Thanks for the link. I never knew this story either.

Wow....

Feb 17, 2013, 10:18 AM

sometimes you never know how a person overcomes things. Sounds like Milt was lucky that the Milers took an interest in him. I think I better understand BB's decisions w/him now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow, really puts things into perspective.

Feb 17, 2013, 10:36 AM

I wish the best for this young man. He's overcome so much already and he constantly deals with ridicule and defeat; yet somehow he is still standing. He's going to graduate with a Clemson degree and with lifelong friendships/relationships. To me, he's already won at life. Good job, Milt.

Give the Milers some credit...great people who did a great thing. Give Jennings credit, he is preparing himself for the future, as he has seen the other side of life...then look at the clemson hating scumbags who wrote in and criticized Morris, Jennings and the story. At least he did not have to reimburse the Windsor for getting the USuC discount at $15 a night that got them probation, or had to explain the lease cars out of Rock Hill...they have not seen the other side of life and have no idea what it is like...I have and do.

good story

Feb 17, 2013, 11:09 AM

most fans don't give a #### about the person only what he does during the game. Whether he gets 2 points or 20, I will be cheering for Milt.

We boast of the great family attitude at Clemson and we have turned this young man away at a time when he needed it most. I have read parts of this story before and knew of Miltons struggles during childhood.
If you are a Clemson student you should be at the game this evening prepared to welcome this young man back to our great family. We have 6 or 7 more games left in this last season for him. Let's make them count.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Really makes you feel for Milt. He has overcome so

Feb 17, 2013, 6:18 PM

much that most of us have never faced. Easy for some folks to always slam people never knowing anything about them. Hope Milt has a good post Clemson career because he definately deserves it.

Re: Link Ron Morris article on Milton Jennings. I didn't know

I've always thought there was more to Milton Jennings than met the eye and this story confirms my belief. He tries so hard during a game, too hard sometimes. The remarks from the crowd that he hears have to cut him. I hear it and hate it, and I can't imagine how he must feel. As the coach said, he got to the place where he wouldn't shoot, would pass off, etc. They made plays specifically for him to make him take the shot. It is my hope that this story will stop the negative remarks thrown his way, and he begins to get encouragement from the crowd instead. Go Milton!

I cant believe that during a game our people rag on him instead of being supportive. He is a Tiger after all.

I have heard others mention this also so I have no doubt it happens. Not the Clemson I know. Very disappointed that we have so many self absorbed a....... uhh fans

"self absorbed?"

Feb 17, 2013, 11:46 AM

I'm hearing they're offering students free drinks and popcorn just to attend the game with 3rd ranked Miami. What's wrong here?

Feb 17, 2013, 12:03 PM

Lot of info on Milt that I didn't know and that gives me a new perspective on him. Also confirms something that I have always wished TN would do - include many more personal stories on our athletes to help see them as real people and not just instruments for obtaining what fans want. Also, it confirms something else - our coaches know more about these situations than we do so we should trust their judgment more in dealing with them.

Real Tigers stand up and cheer

Feb 17, 2013, 12:05 PM

If the jack@sses start harassing Milt again, drown them out and let him know he has support. Kudos to BB for not giving up and seeing that he could make a difference in this young man's life, both on and off the court. He got slammed for doing the same thing Dabo gets credit for doing--giving a young man a chance in life.

Almost every game...

Feb 17, 2013, 12:22 PM

I'm on the front row of the floor of the student section giving words of encouragement to to the players. Specifically Milton, and he has acknowledged me several times, often responding to me directly. I do it so he knows there are people in the stands who support him. I just wish every student shared my same sentiments, and supported our fellow classmates win or lose. Instead they groan when Milt touches the ball so I just try to cheer louder than they jeer. Let's make these last few games special for both of our seniors, starting tonight against Miami. Let's "Rock the John" tonight! Go Tigers!

happy they were reticent about harsh criticism of Jennings; others who may feel pangs of guilt, and yet some who could care less and will continue the tirades. That will then beg the question for the latter group: how would you feel if you were in his shoes?

I don't make a habit of calling folks out on TigerNet, but I have long held to the idea that singling players out for harsh, destructive criticism is a patently bad idea...and this story is proof positive of one of the reasons for avoiding such.

I have CLEMSON friends that scream at the mention of that player's name.

So you will have to include a ton of Clemson fans in that as well.

Coot fans and their coach are too busy attacking the character of every single player on the team not named Carrera or Ellington. No wonder former players want nothing to do with your school.
