I just finished listening to him being interviewed on fox sports radio and loved it. He’s still full of excitement and has the best stories from his time at Clemson and the nfl. My favorite was when he told how Danny Ford first named him Lavern and he said Danny still calls him that today.
Hearing him talk brings back a lot of great memories and reminds me of just how tough Danny’s teams were.

You don't by chance have that interview do you? Is it recent.
Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to have him coaching our backers. We've had a ton come through here but he's got to be top 3.

That was by far the best group of linebackers ever at Clemson. Kirkland, Wayne Simmons, John Johnson, Ed McDaniel, Ashley Sheppard, Doug Brewster et al. McGlockton, Buckner and Vance Hammond on the DL. That defense was big fast and nasty. The 1990 season would have been very interesting if Danny had stayed. How Hatfield screwed this up so quickly is beyond me.

talent at that position. Guys who were technically "2nd string" could've been All Americans if they got enough reps at CU, or played for another school and started. They were all fast and brought the heat. Thank God there was no transfer portal back then...

We're the best I've ever seen with Paws on their helmet. By far the best LB group ever. Violent as hell, all fast, gang tackling, celebrating with one another like wild dogs over a carcass. My Pop, a lifelong Golden Domer said, "Geezus Christopher son, it looks like they have 14 players on defense.....and they HIT you."

Wish I had heard that! He was a great one for us. And yeah brother, Danny had some truly tough teams. Those defenses...wow!
