Gotta light VIZTIZ's graph avatar, unless you are Judge Keller!

Stats don't lie, they say!

Oh, wish Brad & Monte could get their programs going like the Women's Softball HC John Rittman has!

Com'on Guys, you two can do it at Clemson!!

Looking at the saw blade trend, 2022 - 2023 should be an up year. ??

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, 26-27 wins should continue the trend.

I love how people use the win total for the covid year to bash brownell.

It was one of our best regular seasons of all time where we beat a record 8 NCAA tourney teams in a short year.

Same with baseball

May 22, 2022, 3:51 PM

that year. Record was good and pitching was much better than what people realize.

Re: Same with baseball

May 22, 2022, 4:05 PM

Lol. The pitching was the same as it always is under Monte. It starts out good against crap teams then falls apart. Weatherly and Strider were good but other than them it was dismal as always.

What you failed to mention was how light hitting that team was, struggling to score runs constantly. I believe we were 14-3 when the season was canceled. That’s nothing new for Lee teams. There was absolutely no reason to think that season would have been any different than any of the other failure teams from Monte Lee.

I’ve asked you this before but you never answer, what has Monte Lee done to be justified in getting another year? What was he hired to accomplish? Is it enough for a historical top 15 overall program to sneak into post season play?

Re: Same with baseball

May 22, 2022, 5:48 PM

that probably explains why we’ve gotten worse as the season has gone on and have just totally fallen apart at the end of the regular season.

just pathetically bad Brad-like “coaching.”

And we lost in the first round of the ACC tournament and the first round of the NCAA tournament. Wow, what a great season…

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I love how some of you like to bring up the NCAA Tournament

May 22, 2022, 4:19 PM

and completely ignore the NCAA Tournament records at Clemson for other coaches.

Cliff Ellis was 1-2 in NCAA Tournaments here. We were the #4 seed in 1987, and were upset by the #13 seed SW Missouri State in the first round. In 1989, we won our first round game over St. Mary’s in the 8/9 game, and were blown out by #1 seed Arizona in the second round. Our 1990 Sweet 16 run, the only good NCAA Tournament performance Cliff Ellis had at Clemson, no longer counts due to NCAA sanctions.

Ellis had just two NCAA appearances in 10 seasons at Clemson, with a 1-2 record, yet some of you want him back.

Rick Barnes was just 2-3 in the NCAA Tournament at Clemson. In 1996, we lost in the first round to Georgia in the 8/9 game. In 1997, we had our outstanding Sweet 16 run as a #4 seed, beating #13 seed Miami in the first round, #5 seed Tulsa in the second round, and losing to #1 seed Minnesota in a double overtime thriller. Unfortunately, in 1998 we were upset as the #6 seed by #11 seed Western Michigan.

Barnes did have three NCAA Tournament appearances in his four seasons at Clemson, but his 2-3 record there leaves something to be desired considering our seeding in those tournaments.

Purnell was just 0-3 in the NCAA Tournament at Clemson. In 2008, as the #5 seed, we were upset by #12 seed Villanova. In 2009, as the #7 seed, we were upset by #10 seed Michigan. And in 2010, as the #7 seed, we were upset by #10 seed Missouri.

Purnell made three NCAA Tournaments in his 7 years at Clemson, and lost every time despite being the higher seed, yet some of our fans want him back.

Meanwhile, Brownell is our all-time winningest coach, has the best winning percentage against the ACC, has set numerous Clemson records, and has a 3-3 record in the NCAA Tournament (i.e., better than Ellis, Barnes, and Purnell). He has shown that he can win big games in the NCAA Tournament, doesn’t cheat, and loves Clemson enough to stay, yet some of you want him gone.

The logic on TaterNet never ceases to amaze me.

So losing in the first round of the ACC and NCCA was a good season bc we usually don’t do better? Wow, I guess if you set your expectations low enough you can be happy with poor performances…. I know, I know, we don’t spend any money on basketball so we can’t possibly be good… please… your arguments are so tiring….

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you don’t think it makes sense to compare ourselves to ourselves?

May 22, 2022, 6:16 PM

Instead, you want to compare us to a mythical standard you created in your own head?

Lol way to avoid the question lady. Again, do you think losing the only 2 games that “really” matter is a successful season? Of course you do bc you’re you… 13 years of weak sauce but hey… we don’t support your boyfriend so we should just accept poor performance… you’re a joke.

Shocker Ms. BrownL can’t get the bat off her shoulder… winning games in December and January don’t matter when you sh*t the bed in March… but wait, facilities and “real fans” lol We beat a lot of ranked teams during the regular season and that was admittedly great. However, anyone who has actually played competitive sports knows… all anyone remembers is what you do when it matters…

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Let’s see John Calipari’s.

May 22, 2022, 3:55 PM

Most consider him one of the top coaches in college basketball. I want to see the linear progression that evades Brownell and Lee.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Let’s see John Calipari’s.

May 22, 2022, 4:35 PM

You aren’t looking for linear progression - there are a relatively fixed number of games to be played. It’s what percent of the available games are you winning. While I think Calipari is over rated he wins a high percentage of his games and his overlay would sit much higher on that graph. Brownell took over a team that had averaged 24 wins over its previous four seasons, plummeted it to below 20 wins a season and now pretty much lives there. He’s had less seasons above 20 wins in his 12 years than in the four consecutive years before his arrival.

Funny 2020/2021 was "only" credited with 16 wins. Normalized for a non-covid season, that would have been a 20+ win season. Likely higher since play against upper-tier vs lower tier was highly skewed against .500 opponents.

Graphs are useless without context.

Fire Dabo! His wins have dropped by 4 or 5 (26-33%) in the past two years!)
