Let's say we kept Billy Napier

If we get the same talent as under Morris are the results about the same? Better or Worse?

If Billy was retained, Dabo wouldn't have let go of that offense imo. Would love to have billy back now, but having Morris in Clemson when he was there was absolutely necessary.

We got better talent in part of Morris and selling his vision.
Napier is a good coach but sometimes you need to find different paths to become successful and grow. He was a young coach (very young). I am not sure if we kept him (could not really after 2010). Likely would have done more reputation damage to everyone involved. 2011 would not have happened (ie taking VT to the wood shed).

I don’t think Dabo would still be our coach.

We were very mediocre Dabo’s first few seasons here. We had some nice talent, but we were soft and inconsistent.
Chad Morris brought a toughness we so desperately needed at that time, which had a very positive impact on the entire program.
While I feel that his time in Clemson eventually ran its course, he was a critical hire at a critical time in our program.
If we had continued winning just 50-60% of our games, as we did from 2008-2010, Dabo would’ve likely been fired.

thing happening again with our young and inexperienced coordinators/assistant coaches on the current staff?
Or do you feel that our recent success and Dabo’s stature overcome that?

in the short term - yes.
in the 2010 and 2011 offseasons we had a complete program overhaul.
Each season we made significant strides culminating in the 15-16 national championship.
I expect much of the same. I wouldnt be surprised if we ended with a much more dominant 10-3 or 11-2 record the next few seasons before we are back to glory in 2024/5 or so.

No Morris, no DW4, likely no TL16, no natl championships.

We definitely would have been better.
I think people forget that if Kyle Parker doesn't break his ribs against Auburn, that season is totally different. The week after we lost to Auburn, we set a record for dropped passes in a game and Parker struggled with his accuracy.
Ellington missed 4 games that year, and he was clearly our best weapon. He averaged 6 yards per carry and had 11 TDs.
Our WRs were just terrible in 2010. Nuk arrived later in the season as most true freshmen do. We probably beat Auburn and Miami if he arrived ready like Sammy did. But just listen to these names...
2010: Nuk, Jaron Brown, Marquan Jones, Bryce McNeal, Xavier Dye, Brandon Clear, and Terrance Ashe
That was easily the worst WR core in Dabo's tenure. I mean, I would have taken Beaux, Dacari, and Will Swinney over any combination of three that 2010 could have put on the field together. Marquan Jones and Bryce McNeal went from actual contributors in 2010 to guys that never touched the field in 2011.
You said that we keep the talent, which means we still bring in Sammy, Martavis, Charone, and Humphries. That would have been a massive upgrade. Just spot the difference.
2011: Nuk, Sammy, Jaron, Martavis, Charone, Humprhies, McNeal, Jones
We returned our top 2 TEs with Dwayne Allen and Brandon Ford.
We would have been better. Do we go 10-4 and win the ACC? Probably not.

made him look alot better but i'm not sure we get Sammy Watkins or alot of those dudes from Florida without Morris. Morris was not the greatest but at the time he was the hot commodity. Easy to sell to kids looking to make a name on a high flying offense.
