Let's look at Dabo's full quote...

Dec 21, 2022, 4:56 PM

... and see what he actually said. Go to the 11 minute mark of the link below.

*********
To be honest with you, as I've said many times, when NIL came there was nobody more equipped than us as a program. You know with what we've been doing for 14 years now with PAW Journey from a financial literacy standpoint, attach education, you name it - agents, everything. We've always had that approach. So, conversations have changed. There has been more to talk about, just like when the applied science and nutrition and strength and conditioning and all these things - as things have grown this is just another area that's important. So, you gotta make sure you address it, and then - you know, honestly - I was thinking about it this summer, I was thinking through it and, honestly, I mean for me we built this program on NIL. We really did. And, it's probably different than what you're thinking of. We built this program in God's name, image and likeness. And that's how I look at it, so as things have changed God has always been the foundation of what I do. And so, we've been dealing with His name, image and likeness for a long time and I think as this new era has come forward, you know, God continues to bless us here at Clemson.
********

Personal testimony: "God as always been the foundation of what I do."
Give all the glory to God and take none of the credit for yourself: "God continues to bless us at Clemson."

It is very sad that our culture in America has changed to the point that many, if not most, people are offended by anyone having that worldview and want to deny anyone the right to speak what he believes if you disagree with his belief.

Re: Some coaches might share Dabo's views

Dec 22, 2022, 12:39 PM

I have done plenty of thing in 70 years of my life that I have been sorry or ashamed of, but the one thing I've never been sorry or ashamed of is, Jesus Christ "IS my Lord and Savior". Stories have been told and recorded in whatever means they could use since mankind, and of all the stories told, some people choose not to believe the stories of Jesus and how his body was put in the encloser and blocked with a stone that was believed to be way too heavy for 1,2, or even 3 grown men to move, and yet Jesus wasn't there when they went back.

One thing that we know to be fact, several people knowing the same secret means it's no longer a secret bc somebody will tell it, and it was never told throughout history of anybody unblocking the tomb of Jesus, and there are people who don't believe it, but they will believe anything said to the point of Jesus rising from the dead and disappearing and never found.

For me personally, I know where Jesus is, he is in Heaven with the All Mighty, and one day, the non believers will be on their knees begging for forgiveness, but it will be too late for them. If I am wrong with what I believe, I'll be exactly like everyone else that has passed away, but if am right, and I am sure there has to be something after life on earth, I will be rewarded with eternal life, Amen!!!

the love of it is. If one has been blessed with money, what are you doing with it? Is God getting glory from it? Are you helping others? Are you being a good steward?

Abraham was rich. So was David, Solomon, Joseph of Aramathia, many others. It's not how much you have, it's what you do with it

Dec 22, 2022, 6:26 AM [ in reply to He can’t believe whatever he wants. ]

He simply is who he is so players and their parents trust him. He is faithful to God, to himself, to his word and to the players. How many people in your life do you trust?

Most of us trust only a few. If you narrow it down to ask how many people in your life have never deceived you or allow you to be deceived that short list gets even shorter.

Trust is a rare element and more precious than diamonds and gold. It's something you can't buy and also something that someone who has trust will not sell.

Amen Brother Bill. We're blessed that Dabo has a bigger audience and platform than any of us because that's what we're all supposed to be doing.

Disagree Brother Bret. I have faith that most of America and Americans believe and applaud Dabo for taking that stance. I see God's love and work every day in real life. People want God to fit their beliefs and values and cherry pick parts of His Word to fit their agenda. Praise the Lord Dabo doesn't have an agenda.

One day he won't be there to say these powerful words and we will all miss him. Dabo is a man of faith in a world, that for the most part, has none. Principle is a hard thing to come by in this day and age. It's all about the money. You won't find a replacement for him in our lifetime. Few and far between.

Dec 21, 2022, 5:16 PM

"You won't find a replacement for him in our lifetime."

There's only one Dabo. He's already a Hall of Famer. More importantly, his impact on the young men who have come through Clemson will literally last an eternity. Heck, I've never met the man and he has influenced me positively.

And how many young coaches look up to his faith and his way of doing things.

Remember when people wished we could get Jimbo as our coach?

As I said in another post: we'll miss him when he's gone. He earns every penny of his money having to listen to ignorant knucklehead "fans".

NIL and portal rules. But he said God, so people will say he’s an idiot or a con man. I’m no devout Christian by any means, but to dismiss everything Christian or the reality of people’s faith is an ugly thing to do and it demeans whoever does it. Was thinking about this last night . . . Think about what it means to accept modern scientific theory about the universe and our place in it, including the fact that we’re discussing it on freakin tnet. Try to really wrap your head around the odds of this actually happening, and ask yourself: is this really any less ridiculous than religious faith? I say, no, it isn’t. Our situation is ridiculous, and religion is valid.

Thanks brettfsu for the post and for pointing to the source of the quote. Good stuff

I often recall these spoken words from Jesus Christ ...

I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world. - John 16:33 (CEB)

If the world hates you, know that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, I have chosen you out of the world, and you don’t belong to the world. This is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you, ‘Servants aren’t greater than their master.’ If the world harassed me, it will harass you too. If it kept my word, it will also keep yours. The world will do all these things to you on account of my name, because it doesn’t know the One who sent me. - John 15:18-21 (CEB)

Th pharisaic media will go after Dabo ... guaranteed ... because of the words of Jesus above spoken 2000 years ago.

He just said this is how he is building and operating his program at Clemson. He didn’t say no one else is doing it the same way. He is proud of his program and how he manages it. If Jimbo says he’s buying the best team he can, does that mean no one else is doing that? Y’all are creating issues that aren’t there.

Go back and read or listen to the comments from many of our recruits and current players that mention God and their faith and the role faith has in the Clemson program as part of the reason they chose Clemson. Dabo is reinforcing this position with the players that share similar beliefs. Have you heard an interview with Cade where he didn’t mention God? He is recruiting players that buy in.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thank you! Exactly the point I was making yesterday.

Dec 22, 2022, 11:06 AM

Every aspect of a Christian's life will be informed and guided by their faith, to some extent. That's just the way it is. No person, of any faith, is required to keep their faith private, and not to spkeak of it; it's an important part of who they are, and they are free to live it and speak of it, as long as they are not harming others by doing so. Dabo has harmed no one, and "offending" does not equal harming.

Look, when I saw the clickbait headlines and read some of the articles which gave little context, I too wondered where he was coming from, and exactly what he meant. It seemed like a weird comment. But now, seeing the whole story, it's obvious that Dabo was just using this opportunity to reinforce with the public that "NIL" means a little something different to him, and provides a moral compass that informs his thoughts and decisions, resulting in effective ways to address the challenges that coaches and players face in the ever-changing world of college life and college football.

Everybody is free to disagree with Dabo's approach. They are free to question it. Just like Dabo is free to express it.
