able to get us back to where he has said we were, the best program in the last 14 years, and
there are no better OC and DC coaches in America than the ones on his staff that he personally trained and mentored these last 5+ years.
He has his biggest task ahead in his career I believe because,
we have not been elite these last 3 years, the last 2 even when we had TL and TE, LSU and OSU showed us that, and this year totally speaks for itself as we finished 4th in the worst Power 5 conference with hands down the best talent, even with all of our injuries,
he is not getting his 1st choices re recruits. He lost 2 of his 1st choices earlier this year to UNC, a team that is 6-6, and we still had BV and TE on staff, and he just lost 3 of his 1st choices to UGA (a team that also lost its DC, but it didn't seem to matter) and AL?... Let's hope he can work his magic on some of his 2nd, 3rd 4th,... choices and develop them like he used to be able to.
Living in GA, i know what it feels like to be a Gamecock fan living in SC, it suxs! Kirby kicked our butt on the field this year and he is doing the same(according to the ones who say they know) re recruiting off the field and they let us know it. GA fans are as obnoxious as OSU fans, the 2 worst. I would say AL, but they have every right to boast. Hope we beat GA 30-0 in 2024.

definitely an eye opener. At first, I thought it was a one year fad, but SOMEBODY on his staff is performing miracles on the recruiting trail. NIL obviously figures into it, but what is the draw to UNC?
And, you can bet that opposing schools try to make Mack Daddy's advanced age a recruiting issue. No such thing as Dirty Pool in the recruiting world, you use every tool you can. And yet, the Tarholes are overcoming all such stuff.
Please, one of you real recruiting Daily Llamas, enlighten us masses.

better. NC kids love NC basketball and this helps their recruiting. Having UNC, Tenn. UGA "improving" or at least not being dumpster fires, is never good for Clemson. May have to add FSU back in the mix as well.

Elite teams don't get slaughtered... by anybody. Truly elite teams can compete with anybody.
Overall, I would say that Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Alabama have been elite programs during the CFP era. UGA is trying to get there, but they're going to have to win more in the CFP to attain that status. None of these teams have been elite TEAMS every year during the CFP era. Clemson was not an elite team in 2020.
Our status as an elite program is in jeopardy considering the results in 2021. Dabo has a LOT of work to do. I hope his staff rebuild works and he can get the team as a whole back to elite status.

Please listen to what Dabo has been saying from the time he became the Head Coach. He is about developing players and coaches. There are probably OC’s and DC’s with more experience but he chooses to develop the OC and DC. Same thing with the players. He doesn’t always get the best recruits but he develops them to fit the program.
PS. UGA kicked our butt! Really! A pick 6 was the difference. They won and that is it. 30-0 is a butt whipping

GA has had higher ranked recruiting classes than us most years. That is nothing new. But they have only gone further in the playoffs than us twice including this year. Coaching?

last three years is ridiculous.
We have only missed one CFP field of four over the last eight years, and that is years final four. We won two CFP titles, and finished second two times. We lost three in the first round of the CFP final four.
Only Alabama has a better record with the CFP dating back to 2014. Clemson played in the final title game in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Clemson won the 2016 and 2018 title games. Clemson and LSU were both 14-0 in the 2019 CFP title game, LSU won essentially a home game in New Orleans.

in saying that we have been elite.
However, the OP has a point as well. We were blown out in the playoffs last year and two years ago, so we certainly didn't play like an elite team.
And of course, this year we clearly weren't elite. We struggled most of the year, and are fortunate to be 9-3 despite having significantly more talent than every team we played except for Georgia. We were near the bottom of FBS in offense, for crying out loud.

Coot Philosophy. Just because we have had great success on the field, and in the Playoffs up until this year, does NOT mean that Clemson would automatically have any pick we would choose when it comes to hiring assistant coaches. MANY things go into coaches deciding whether to seek or accept a position at a given school. But, the Coot Philosophy, and some of us on here as well, seems to be that "We can get ANYONE WE WANT to come here." The truth is far different.
We who love Clemson love the fact that our school is set in a small, semi-rural town in upstate South Carolina. That very fact could work completely against us with some potential hires.
We are in the ACC, not the "pre-emminent" conference in college football, the SEC. That could also work against us.
Dabo Swinney is a strong personality. There are those who just flat don't like him, or think he is faking that personality, whatever. This could also work against us.
Dabo also makes no attempts to hide his strong Christian faith. As incredible as it may seem to say it, THAT could work against us in some cases.
Now, I said all that to say this: Clemson Assistant Coaching Jobs are not ours to give. In fact, no one who has any power in any way, shape or form when it comes to those jobs is going to give a gnat's ar$e what anyone on a fan message board has to say about it. It's just a waste of brain cells and computer "ink".
