Let The Market Work

Jul 3, 2022, 8:10 AM

Grant of Rights was a cowards mistake. In the long run if you have value you will realize a gain on it. I think the whole profit sharing game the Conferences play reeks of communism. I don't see how these alliances are legal from a business model perspective. I guess because they're considered voluntary? They should take the whole structure down and start over. Congress should drop this Jan. 6 show and fix this.

Do you like the NFL revenue sharing model?

Sounds like you want the government to step in and fix college football?

Ultimately the situation will make such losers out of some it will end up in the Courts. Once the super conferences happen are they monopolies? I think they are. I certainly think this is more important than steroids in baseball. Maybe that's just my opinion.

So, what is your point?

Do you want Congress to step in and fix this?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't mind Congress, or the FTC even, stepping in

and saying "time out" on any further conference realignment while the stakeholders can have an open discussion about ramifications and the health of the whole college athletics enterprise going forward.

The free market and capitalism are the bomb but checking greed is how it remains viable for a free society.

OK so we depend on the free market until somebody gets too greedy. Who decides when somebody is getting too greedy? Congress? POTUS? The free market?

My point is Congress has no business in this. US government has no business in this until somebody breaks a law.

Trustbusting. Discouraging or dismantling monopolies. Rules governing acquisitions and oversight on large mergers and their impact on the larger business community and public at large. The US has a long, storied history spanning all parties in checking greed at this level. It has worked well to keep a more bustling and nimble industry in place, for the most part. Considering this involves interstate commerce and publicly funded entities, it certainly fits into Congress' and administrative purview.

How do you expect Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, Cheney, AOC, Omar and company to rise above their own greed and corruption to "fix" the greed and corruption you claim is ruining college football?

This would hardly be letting the market work.

If we want anything fixed, we'll have to fix it ourselves. I've always said the DC bureaucrats aren't in the business of problem solving.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

There's too much government now. They are destroying the country now so I wouldn't trust them to fix College football.
