Gonna make some of you Lungers very, very happy. But I have my doubts that it will ever be truly enforced.
COLUMBIA, S.C. —
The South Carolina House has passed a bill that would let police write a ticket for someone driving too slow in the left lane.
The House voted 108-0 to pass the bill Thursday, which would make it illegal for a driver to stay in the left lane if they know or should know they are going to be overtaken by a faster vehicle and can safely change lanes.
Violators could face a $200 fine or 30 days in jail. The House removed a two point penalty on the violator’s driver’s license before voting Thursday.
The bill now goes to the Senate.

flip you off and speed up when you try to get around them ticketed. And as much as I hate police, I'd be OK with them pulling these people out of their cars and tasing them, as well.

It only matters if it's enforced (and it should be enforced vigorously). Speeding tickets are the "goose that laid the golden egg" for many municipalities and their tax-collectors. Harder to set up a left-lane driver trap.

If you vigorously enforced correct left lane discipline, the savings would be tenfold that of speeding ticket revenues, just from all of the congestion that magically disappeared, eliminating or postponing the need for continual infrastructure build-outs.

Around Atlanta I'm almost exclusively in the right lane. Goes much faster as all the slow fawks migrate over to the left whilst stuffing their face with fast food and facetiming someone.

interstates. I mean it takes some semi trucks 5 miles to pass another one in the left lane. Long enough to backup a good half mile of cars in the left lane.
I see this as feel-good legislation.
