Much as I like Dabo, I'm not shedding any tears for his small bonus!

I am. Smaller bonus means Tigers are not competing for a title.

I know right, he only made more money with his anorexic bonuses, than 80, maybe 90% of the human population has ever made in a year any time in their lives. Here the writers are writing stories about college HC's bonuses after bowl games like the coaches are being under paid with hardly mentioning the other $7, $8, $9 millions they are being paid as a yearly salary, I don't see how any of them make it off those measly bonuses they receive for playing another game. Maybe fans should start up a feel sorry for coach fund, so to help the overpaid coaches to get richer$$$$$$$$$!!!!!??????

I do believe there would never be any quibbling about

paying bonuses in any year that we brought home the Natty in football.

We would call it a Mere Bagatelle in that event.

And to think most on TNet make way less than..

Jan 12, 2022, 1:42 PM

$100,000 a yr (and probably less than $50K if an audit was done) and maybe even with a college degree.

And many people who actually help society much much more than a football coach, ceo or pro ball player are paid many many millions a year less.

And even being a Doctor, Dentist, Minister, Nurse, etc won’t get you past $250,000 a year and I’d venture they are more needed on a daily basis in helping others than a highly paid college football coach.

I still think CEO’s, College Coaches, Pro players and you name them are being paid way to much..

and of course the fans & customers are the ones paying the bill since they seem to need the “emotional fix” of entertainment or “got to have” product or gadget..

and while I like Capitalism and have owned/co-owed 4-5 businesses, I see where it has a lot of flaws in that it doesn’t help those many tens of millions trapped at those $15-$20 per hour jobs that the government & politicians are pushing to the masses as a fix-all.

If you're a doctor or nurse and are making less than $50,000 than you're doing something wrong. If you have a college degree (and are in a field commensurate with said degree) and are making less than $50,000 then you are also doing something wrong.

No one with a college degree or any type of skills is being trapped at $10-15/hr jobs.

Don't blame Capitalism for people being "stuck" at $10-15 jobs. The rewards of Capitalism are based on market conditions and value provided.

If someone wants to improve their lot in life, they should first start with adding value to their employers (and themselves) in the form of hard work, knowledge, good attitude, and education (just to name a few qualities.)

Also, being willing to relocate to where there are better opportunities will help, but that also may not be without a cost.

When I was just starting my career, I asked my boss for a raise and my reasoning we that we just had a baby. His answer was, "No one told you to have a baby." I was appalled, but upon reflection of the situation, I realized he was right. Businesses will pay employees based on their value to the organization, not personal circumstances.

I used that lesson to do all the things I mentioned above, which not only helped advance my career, but my income as well. Maybe the government will institute a flat tax instead of our current income tax scheme and everyone will be better off...

Factor in the salary

Jan 12, 2022, 2:12 PM

Dabo Swinney is the third highest paid coach in the country. He makes plenty of money and while it’s exciting to make all of the postseason games, especially national championships, consider the fact that some of these coaches are getting bigger bonuses with much smaller salaries which helps incentivize them to stay where they are. Not sure what the point is if you don’t consider all the variables. I’m sure a lot of the coaches getting $100,000 bonus would much rather have a nine or $10 million salary every year than the one they currently live with

LBB stated about $10 /$15 hour jobs***

Jan 12, 2022, 2:26 PM

That's old school numbers,Bill -- around here all the industrial plants are paying more than that per hour to start, plus some are paying $1000 starting bonus if you stay 6 months** -- these people make $25/$30 per hour after a few years, plus all the other company benefits they have -- and they can't get help, because of all the free government handouts -- no one wants to work anymore ???? __ sports of all kinds has gotten to the point of no return --salaries are over the top -- wish I had been born a great athlete and I could be complaining about making $20 million a year ********************* GO TIGERS !!!
