Time will tell if FSU has the back-bone to address this issue,
many things FSU could do

methods are leading to an adversarial relationship between JW and FSU, which I don't believe will be healthy.

If anything, a fight against the Feds will more than likely lead to an all-out battle among those involved with each pointing fingers at the others, and that in itself would IMO lead FSU to try to cut its losses by disassociation. Then again, it may drag on long enough to become a non-issue with Winston declaring for the draft.

The entire matter has been a black eye for the university, one it could easily have avoided had it been strenuous in the pursuit of justice from the beginning.

Lastly, despite perceptions I don't believe for a moment that the entire FSU family has turned a blind eye to Winston's problems, and I expect this to become more evident as the matter proceeds.

No question that Winston has become a liability to FSU and his status as a liability appears only to grow. No doubt Jimbo wants to find a way to work it out, but we have to believe the growing liability Winston has become is noticed and there will be pressure to do something about him. Whether the pressure will be sufficient to see him held accountable is anyone's guess right now, but I'd bet there are folks interacting with the coach or AD about doing something already.

The attorney representing Shameis is SCUM! He and Jimbo are HEII bent And determined to keep this idiot on this team as long as they can. Go review Jumbo's bonus conditions in his contract and and then you'll see why he's got to have Shameis on the field. This situation we are watching is going to have severe consequences for all CFB in years to come. I admit, I couldn't stand FSU and Jimbo before this but this is an embarrassment to FSU, alumni/fans of FSU and The ACC. Somebody has got to look past victories and money and see something has to give here....the world is waiting FSU, can you do the right thing for once?

It's called running out the clock

Clune is correct, Cornwell just wants to delay everything until January when Winston will depart FSU for the draft. There's no doubt that this strategy will be successful, since FSU has demonstrated that they have neither the guts or the desise to take any action against Winston.

What an absolute disgrace for FSU. No excuse for the way this situation was handled. It was botched from day 1 and continues to look like a ship of fools to this day. Figure out what you're going to do with this piece of shxt and get it done already. With recent events, I hope the NFL is done with handing lowlifes like Winston a multi-million dollar contract to do whatever he wants. Let him go and try to eke out a living in the XFL.

I completely confused as to how FSU is even recognizing...

Oct 15, 2014, 9:15 AM

this lawyer as having any voice in the review of this case. I'd call Winston to my office and give him the letter personally and the time frame would be one week on the minute from the time I put the letter in his hand. I'd also tell him that if he gave me any chit he'd be gone from school.

This isn't a legal issue. Winston has to comply with the FSU administration. FSU isn't stupid they know this much better than I. They are pretending to be wrapped up in paper work and hamstrung by JW's lawyer. If they'd wanted to investigate they would have done it within the time frame the law set forth.

This is a coordinated effort by the FSU administration and Winston to see him on the field until the bitter end. It flies in the face of common sense and decent reason. This entire episode is smoke and mirrors.

it is a small thing called due process. the procedures are already set up and everyone involved must follow them. our system of legal justice is predicated on the principal of due process. why are we so worried about Winston, fisher, and the reputation of fsu? are we not to worry about all that went on at unc and Miami? or is this because we want Winston gone so we have a better chance of winning the acc championship? we already have two losses and are now without Watson for who knows how long. with or without Winston we are not going to the playoffs. the only way we benefit from Winston being kicked off the team for next year, which he will more than likely not be back anyway.

It is good tv.
Winston , Fisher , lawyers involved , lies and cover-ups ....and the root of it all is morality not legality , seeing as how Jimbo already done tolt y'all " no victim , no crime ."
I believe the sanctity of CFB is the victim here .

I wouldn't doubt if FSU is complicit in giving "appearances"

Oct 15, 2014, 10:51 AM

...of trying to do the right thing now but at the same time working with Winston's attorney to give him all the in's and out's of how he can stop the FSU inquiry.

Nicely done FSU...you save your reputation and your QB.

I saw a great comment online the other day:

"Jameis Winston will be the first Heisman winner ever to be asked by his school to go ahead and leave early for the NFL."
