LaTech's starting DT weighs 246 lbs. Reason for run game

Was seeing some post about how great the run game was versus LaTech and how well Putnam played. However, if you dig a little deeper you discover that it was a very favorable matchup for him because one of there starting DTs (#5) was so small. That won't be case vs most Power 5 teams we play. Putnam tends to struggle when teams have 2 big guys in the middle. The results of the run game was encouraging, but I need to see Putnam have similar success vs DTs with legit size before I say our OL has turned the corner on our run game.

Looking at the LaTech roster, I don't see a #5 DT. They do have a DE at 246 lbs, which is not unusual.

When watching, didn't focus much on the LA Tech D-Line.
Their D-Line did run some stunts, however ... which is a common practice among FB defensive lines.
As you may know, when the D-Line runs a stunt, the tackle moves to the outside at the snap and then starts his pass rush (or run defense).
At the same time (i.e., right after the snap), the D-end moves inside and then rushes the passer.
That's probably what you saw on Saturday.
