This game should have been over in the 3rd quarter. Yet, here we are....staff doesn't trust our QB enough to throw one, single deep pass all game. Sad.

Just to put the numbers to it.. DJ is 55% completion percentage on the year.. 5 games he threw for less than 50%. There is YOUR Heisman candidate.. Get real. He may be a good kid but def not a Power 5 QB..

I’m certainly not saying DJ played great this year or isn’t without faults but he looked more accurate tonight IMO. I think people are underrating the impact of our lack of receivers in terms of the play calling tonight.

0 touchdowns and 1 interception. He did throw for 65% completion percentage, but the average per pass yardage was 5.5 not going to win a lot that way.

Hard to throw touchdowns when you’re running the ball in the red zone. Again, I’m not claiming he played amazing tonight or anything, just that his accuracy seemed improved a bit, especially considering we had at least a few dropped passes.
I also just wanted to point out that nobody really seems to think it matters we played with only 3 scholarship receivers(not counting Will Swinney) with 2 of those receivers being true freshmen and the other being Ngata who still isn’t 100%. To pretend that doesn’t impact the play of the QB and the plays called by the OC is unfair IMO.

I will end with this. I don't buy the receivers argument. Especially when throwing accurately has been the biggest problem especially on the long ball. Yes there were drops but that was the same with TL and DW and the results and product were vastly different. The difference is that TL and DW were good in spite of the drops.. Kenny Pickett does not have perfect receivers either, nor does Sam Hartman, or Henden Hooker at Tennessee but those are all vastly superior QBs. Yes they are older, but their freshman stats were much better as well.. Pickett had a QB rating of 120 in 2018 his first year to play a full season.. DJ is at 108.. Pitt does not have nor have they had dynamic receivers. Clemson is rich compared to them so your explanation for poor play does not hold water. Yes the play calling does effect what a QB can do, but the reason the offense moved to a run heavy attack to start with was to cover up bad QB play. So again the argument does not hold up to scrutiny.

10-3 this year isn’t bad. Thats equal to 9-2 back in the day. Tigers used to take that every year and go home happy. 2022 is a new year. Lets see if next years QB can top that. This old Tiger will be happy to see improvement. Go Tigers. !!! Proud of Wes and D tonight.
