Keowee-Toxaway camping
Jul 9, 2016, 7:55 AM

The significant other wanted to primitive camp near Clemson the weekend of the Syracuse game in November . so I booked 2 sites for 6 people and that's a done deal . Early November ....should I expect to carry a heating source or do ya'll think a good sleeping bag and some longjohns will just about do it ?
I don't believe I've ever camped that far into the Fall , so it should be a teaching experience . Go Tigers !

2 single air mats should fit in the tent....amazon 7$ each...you'll be glad you did. Foil burgers are the best for camping....ingredients----burger(80/20), bacon, brats(reg or spicy), peppers-onions-mushrooms-potatoes.....dice up all.....lay out hvy duty aluminum foil-----a big pc. and then dbl it....salt n pepper...then 2 or 3 pcs bacon if you like or not...burger then diced veggies then a brat and more burger....all of this in one big pile with salt and pepper....then wrap up tight in the aluminum foil(triple the foil for safety). cook them 2 different ways 1st...lower the cooking grate over the fire and lay foil burger on grate rotating every 10-15 minutes for 45 min to 1 hour(cook times varies with the size of the foil burger and the size of your diced potatoes)....a small foil burger with no potatoes will cook in 30 minutes or less...once again depending how big it is.....size matters. 2nd....do not lower cooking grate and just throw the fb directly in the fire...rotating every 10-15 minutes until done....enjoy...sometimes we might add cheese, salsa and sour cream on top after you unwrap it. In my OP...this is the best camping meal ever.....we make them at home as-well over the fire pit and the grill. You will thankful you tried this.

Great recipe. I have done this myself, almost exactly, on our grill, (I do add celery, carrots, onions/onion soup mix and potatoes, and though), and it is a great meal.

Average temp in Nov. is 65 in day, 40 at night. Could deviate 5 degrees or more.
Your fine with a good sleeping bag and campfire.
Fall camping is the best. No bugs, skeeters or snakes.
It's rare but possible to run into a bear though. If that happens, if you can outrun your wife, your fine.
Have a nice trip.
