Kent St.

Sep 7, 2017, 8:20 AM

I watched the game a couple times. I was pleased with our effort. I thought for a first start Bryant did well. He seemed reasonably comfortable. The offense seemed very capable and they might be better than some people had thought they would be. Not that anyone thought they would be bad, but you know what I'm saying.

Since Kent st didn't pass much, we can only hope that our defensive secondary is stout. I have faith they are with the experience back there we have.

But one thing did concern me. A few times in the game Kent st ran the ball pretty decent. I know they can't all be tackles for loses but auburns run game will be much more physical. And Dexter, for much of the game seemed to limp a lot. Granted those runs came after the game was in hand for the most part but still. I noticed it was concerning seeing how we knew they were not gonna pass at all by then.

To me, the two keys to winning against auburn are simple...

Kelly Bryant can't turn the ball over and our D line has to be dominant. Do that and I feel good. If they run for big chunks and Bryant tries to do to much and turns the ball over, we lose.

Wouldn't read too much into it. We played 91 guys Saturday so you weren't always looking at contributors in the big games out there.

Probably didn't show a lot of our more exotic looks in terms of blitzes and schemes defensively because what Kent State was doing was very basic. We'll know more about 11 o clock Saturday night

You might be exactly right. Gonna be a good game.

Even though Kent State was running the ball on every down, the LBs/DBs didn't seem to be cheating up or blitzing. It looked more like a dress rehearsal or walk through for the defense.

Here is a highlight video I put together of the game:

I understand promoting yourself but it would of been nice to say up front that you didn't put a dang defensive highlight in the whole video. Our defense made plenty of plays and I just wasted my time looking for defensive highlights.
If you do the Auburn game please don't just put 8 offense plays

My apologies, in my original post I did give that disclaimer.
