I think the point is that the OP is oversimplifying things a bit. You can be BOTH against Islamophobia and FOR women's rights, all while being against human rights abuses of people we do not agree with.
The OP is trying to bait you into believing that there are only two legitimate ways of viewing the conflict, which should tip you off that he has the reasoning skills of a 9-year-old and is playing a game of message board tag.

happen routinely in here on all sides. Of course Islamaphobia vs. human rights is an oversimplification of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict; he's not pretending it's an all-encompassing argument. However, if you choose one side in that conflict, you are in fact choosing one side or the other of that particular issue - there is no running away from it. Quit being a big baby about it and just admit you are siding with the LGBT and women's rights abusers in this case. That doesn't mean that you personally are against LBGT/women's rights (I know you're not), just that you are siding with those who openly and unapologetically are.
Choosing sides is sometimes necessary, sometimes the right thing to do, but it's almost always messy. Sometimes it's not necessary, and we just get tricked into it out of small-minded, prideful tribalistic (political) thinking.

Sure you can be against Islamaphobia and for women's rights. My point - and I think the OP's - is that the left rails on one hand about a conversative "war on women" but remains oddly quiet on how women are treated in the Arab world (subservience and honor killings). Same with the treatment of homosexuals. If a Christian resists gay marriage on the basis of biblical teachings, the liberal screams "homophobe" while he ignors the gay man being thrown off a building somewhere in the middle east. If the Christian points out the hypocrisy, he's an "Islamaphobe."

With that settled, do you disagree that liberals hold inconsistent positions with regards to their view on the treatment of women and homosexuals in the west vs. middle east?
