Justin Fuente will have Virginia Tech back very soon

May 21, 2016, 10:25 AM

He's a great play caller & talent evaluator, he learned from one of the best in Gary Patterson, and he's a young coach that relates well with recruits.

He's the kind of coach that makes you nervous before you face his team, because even if you have more talent than his team, you can bet he's gonna have you figured out and put his team in a good position to succeed.

Very creative & unpredictable. Runs a lot of 2&3 back looks & he's like the patriots in thatt you can't ever nail down exactly what he's gonna do.

Imo he's the best coach in the other division.

He's good for the ACC too because his teams are a lot of fun to watch.

Tennessee has a lot of talent, but I'm interested to see how the UT vs Va Tech game goes. Frankly I think he's a wayyyy better X & O coach th st Burch Jones.

Would love to see them kick UT's ###.

I've said it before, and I will gladly say it again. While we are flying high in recruiting and a great coaching staff, the best thing that could happen for us would be for the ACC to have a constant of several top 20 acc teams year in and year out. With us and FSU on the same side of our conference, a 1 loss can and does knock us out of contention for playing for the NC. With 6 or 7 teams being in top 25 could give a 1 loss Clemson or FSU a chance to play in the playoff games the way that it does for the SEC. With Clemson, FSU, VT, Miami, UNCheat, Louival, with ND all in top 25 on a yearly bases and winning 50/50 against the sec, the acc would equal in strength of scheduling. With just Clemson and FSU being the total strength of our conference, forces one of us to have an undefeated season. How often do teams in all of the conferences finish the season undefeated. But because of the strength of the sec, they could put two teams in the playoffs. And it will happen sooner or later, but a strong ACC will make it hard and less likely.

Like all of the Clemson recruits that UT wants. LOL!!!!

FYI, I am dyslexic. Auto correct helps me post from my phone easier, but it will pull the ole switcheroo on names. Ha

It is funny to hear what the recruits have to say about Clemson when they decide to go here instead of Tennessee.

You can tell our staff is hammering the success Clemson has had compared to UT.

Burch Jonesssssss???

You do not want Justin F. to get them back too quickly. CU goes to Blacksburg to play in 2017.

I'm with you. I'm probably going to that game too.

He's a lot like Herman at Houston imo.

I think the ACC had some great offseason hires. Fuente, Richt, and Babers are a step up. Things will start to get tougher in the near future.

I agree with Fuente bringing back VA Tech, but IMO Cutcliffe is the best in that division. He has a major obstacle in getting his kids accepted to his school, and then he competes for that division title every year.

I want Va Tech to smack UT too. VA Tech's defense is gonna be facing a big test, but if they stop the run and make Dobbs beat them with deep balls I think they have a chance. Hurd and Kamara are gonna be a good combo, should be fun to watch Bud Foster try to shut them down.

I would still give the edge to Fuente, but I wouldn't argue with you on Cucliffe.

Results speak for themselves. He's the man.

But I think Fuente is NFL Caliber. He ate Ole Miss' lunch last year, confused & frustrated Chad Kelly & developed Paxton Lynch into a high draft pic.

I'd say Dobbs & Chad Kelly are comparable talents.

Fuente understands offense & defense and where he can get an edge on opponents better than anyone I've seen, plus his schemes trick plays are killer.

To me Butch Jones is Les Miles caliber, but just runs a better brand of offense with a mobile QB. But if you figure out his system & where he's trying to attack, he's not able to adjust. (See Oklahoma) That plays right into Fuente's hands because Patterson is the guy that taught him.

Personally, I think Beamer has handicapped VaTech for a WHILE. Po man Bobby Bowden 2.0, in that he stayed too long.

Tennessee is loaded, but I think Va Tech has a lot of talent that will now be developed the way it should have. They should play good football now.

But you're right about Kamara & Hurd...& I would say Dobbs too. If IT's O-Line dominates those guys can be overwhelming.

Just one of the insane amount of good CFB games this year.
