Justice Haynes commits to Bama

Richard Young was the other running back that we offered early, but he has Georgia and Oregon as his final schools. Anyone heard anything about Baxter and Johnson from Florida? They are the two recent offers at running back I haven’t seen any sort of lists for them or if they are going to visit Clemson

Anybody ever figure out why we're not pursuing John Randle Jr? Imo, with the backs that are left, he'd be a steal. Higher rated than Johnson. Just curious.

If we were in the SEC, we wouldn't be missing out on a lot of those types of players bc, they don't consider us bc we are in the ACC, and they believe the ESECPN hype of, The SEC Type of Players are just better, Taller, Bigger, Stronger, Faster, and just Better!!!!And they do believe that the NFL will see them more if they play in the SEC, and that their chance of playing in the NFL are better from the SEC, Because, that is what ESECPN tells them will happen, and more players believe that more than the ones that don't!!!!

I think being QBU and WRU fir so long has hurt us more than anything. Throw in that every elite to high major RB is demanding early playing time and you have the situation we have and have had since before we got Etienne.

It's getting silly at this point. This could be the second year in a row we miss out on all our targets.
No top 3-5 teams have had this problem at all over the same span.

I love the Clemson fans that excuse Spiller’s lack of RB recruiting by talking about the depth we already have on campus. And then Haynes commits to Bama, a team with equal depth as Clemson lol.

I love the Clemson fans that compare our RB recruiting to Georgia and Bama when both of those schools have a history of putting running backs into the league and have offensive lineman that are drafted in the first round pretty much every single year.
Don’t be like the idiots on other teams message boards that don’t understand why we recruit defensive lineman so well when we have depth at the position. Majority of these kids go where they think gives them the best chance to be drafted. It’s not rocket science.

We literally just had Etienne break every ACC record and get drafted in the 1st round… but let’s just look at the recent history of RB recruiting
2023: TBD
2022: 3 star, #1462
2021: 5 star, #32 - 4 star, #185
2020: 5 star, #20 - 3 star, #451
2019: 4 star, #241 - 3 star, #927
2018: 4 star, #258
2017: 4 star, #213
2016: 4 star, #29
RB recruiting was consistently good under Tony. It has been abysmal under Spiller. Thems the facts.

and how many of those guys did Tony develop to be drafted into the NFL? Besides Etienne, only Ellington and Gallman have been selected over the past 10 years and they were late rounders. You did not address the comment that it is ridiculous to compare our recruiting to Bama & UGA when our history at the position is not even in the same universe.
Also, to your point on Etienne, he was a low 4-star fallback option in the 2017 class who was not even on our radar until we missed out on our primary target Deandre Swift & had the Cordarrian Richardson saga unfold.
By all means though, don't let “facts” get in the way of your lazy narrative.

My comparison about UGA and Bama is that their RB rooms are just as deep as ours, but they never have a problem signing elite RBs every class. So the “Clemson is loaded” excuse doesn’t make any sense.
We are close to signing unranked RB recruits in back to back classes. That’s the issue here. Thomas Austin has been a phenomenal recruiter so far, even though we have a lack luster history of producing NFL offensive linemen. Kyle Richardson has landed two highly rated TEs, even though we have never shown the ability to utilize the position effectively. Nick Eason has been our best recruiter since Dabo hired him. Wes Goodwin has landed three four star LB recruits, even though we haven’t been great at sending LBs to the NFL. Mickey Conn has recruited well at safety, even though we don’t have a stellar history of sending safeties to the NFL.
Spiller has been terrible so far. There’s no excuses for his inability to sign a big time RB recruit. The other coaches are doing well, while Spiller is struggling. Facts.

I just don't get how it's the same people defending the indefensible. We are about to flame out on our entire RB board for two years in a row. No way to sugarcoat it at all.
I guess the same people will defend our poor running game in 2 years.

Shipley admits publicly half way thru last season that there was alot of turmoil in the RB room.
I love how people think that these recruits don't hear all the "rumors" and decide they want no part of that running back room. Who can blame them.
