I don't know....he had a 35-52 record at Akron.

Probably has a lot of knowledge, just none of it very good.

So there is not set list of duties, it's basically whatever the coaches need him to do. It will include helping with practice prep, getting film ready for coaches and team to review, helping out with the scout team etc...

knowledge and how great that is for Clemson. Seems to me this staff is doing pretty well on its own.

The guy does know football but it's not like he's going to re-invent the wheel at Clemson. That's already been taken care of. If anything, he'll get a ton more out of this relationship than Clemson will. IMO, this is Dabo doing a peer a favor and not Dabo looking to invigorate the program.

Why isn't it exactly? I'm not saying that Bowden gets nothing out of this himself, but the man has been in coaching for nearly 40 years. He wasn't an elite head coach, but he does have an overall record of 175-114 so he's also not an idiot either. I'm sure a man with that much experience could have a thing or two to input. Even if all he does is help review film then he's an asset to us.

Unless he made some serious financial blunders, Terry Bowden should have a couple million in the bank after nearly three decades as either an assistant coach, head coach, and tv analyst...

He hasn't been the best head coach but he certainly didn't suck. He experienced some success.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I do agree with some of the positives I read regarding experience, knowledge, etc, etc. There's something though, at least for me, thats just not passing the smell test. What is a 63 year old ex head coach doing at Clemson working for free while taking classes? What is he learning about our program? Who will he share that information with? Does he have ties with our competitors (like FSU for instance). I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything like that, just been around long enough to know that "nothing is free". Why would you do something for free that you got paid millions to do before?

If its all legit, then I'm happy as can be about him being added to the staff. There's just that little itch at the back of my mind I can't scratch

Great pick up, more quality ideas the better. We haven’t had a lot of turn over in recent years so a fresh set of eyes on the program can never be a bad thing.

My other thought for the day...
Anyway we can check some of the religion and politics at the door? We all get enough of that in our daily lives, and some of us want to come here and just read about football, the one thing that brings all us together, while the morons in Washington and the churches tear us apart.

I like it, Terry Bowden around elite talent is a good combination. Sure he's taken his lumps at smaller schools but at Auburn he was a stud until recruiting violations took him down. I honestly dont know much about those, if they were truly on him or someone else in his staff. Either way I think he will bring a good element of strategy to our offense.

The football ops center in going to need a bigger buffet line and more chefs.

Remember how he used to wear that white shirt and tie when he coached Auburn?

He should be closer to retirement home than going back to school.

This is a no-nevermind, feel good move and........

.....no reasonable Tiger Fan could have any problem with it at all.

I continue to be flat out stunned at Clemson fans who seem to think they have a better idea about every little thing that happens in the Clemson football program, all of which operates under the watchful eye of Dabo Swinney.

Dabo makes an off the cuff humorous remark on a Coach K radio show 4 months ago and this week umpteen people who call themselves Clemson fans feel in a need to chime in with a "He should not have said that."

Coach Venables son commits to Clemson University and people who claim to be Clemson fans start offering personal opinions about ways Coach Swinney could better manage the roster.

An affable, well spoken Coach who led Auburn to an undefeated football becomes an unpaid graduate assistant doing whatever Coach Swinney asks him to do. And then folks who claim to be Clemson fans start popping off about the wisdom of the action, about the character of a man Dabo Swinney, the highest character Coach in the history of Clemson football, just embraced and telling anyone who can read they think Dabo has made a mistake or at least done yet another thing they don't like.

I am glad that in Death Valley I do not sit near many people who conduct themselves like the whiny little yapping irritating non-supportive guys on this forum so often do. If I did sit near such folk, I'd be forced to shout "#### and sit your ### down or get the hell out of here. You do not deserve to call yourself a Tiger fan."
