Just so we are clear, Yall are mad that Joe

Aug 16, 2021, 1:52 PM

is keeping to the treaty Trump signed with the Taliban in February of last year (After inviting them to Camp David) to have all troops removed within 14 months.

That's what we are mad about?

Nah, I'm more mad about the 30% hike in food stamps. Inflation needs to impact that demographic as well. Stop hiding liberal failure with my money.

Sick what about! Unfortunately for sleepy joe, blaming trump won't work this time. He said that he discussed w/ military officials on this and then the decision was to exit Afghanistan. This is all on your hero Sleepy joe.

I more mad that people like you helped "elect" such an incompetent buffoon as Sniffy Joe. Are you not the slightest bit embarrassed?

Yes, but much less so than if I helped the other guy get ‘elected’ or assist in attempting to overturn an election.

FWIW, I think a full pull-out now was wrong....

Aug 16, 2021, 2:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Just so we are clear, Yall are mad that Joe ]

and I think Biden could have changed the agreement, had he wanted to. He owns the decision to completely pull-out of Afghanistan. There were a lot of other options available to him.

With that said, and in the context of your comment, up until when he left office in January, did Trump express ANY intent to change the agreement he made with the Taliban to have a complete pull-out now? Last I checked, the Taliban is living up to all of the agreement they made.

"Our military commanders advised me that once I made the

decision to end the war..." - Joe Biden (7/8/2021)

He didn't blame Trump until his decision went South.

Also - the moment The Taliban started advancing he could/should have reconsidered his decision.

I keep calling it "his decision" - because that's what Biden called it.

Not mad. Just very disappointed in what is happening. Trump's withdrawal was a conditional withdrawal. Biden's withdrawal appears to be a completely unconditional withdrawal. Biden would have looked better if he had actually surrendered and as part of the surrender terms have insisted on an orderly exit.

Brings back, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job."

The NYT, CNN,NPR, WAPO, Vanity Fair and others are calling out Biden for his handling of this withdrawal.

Just so we are clear, do you think this withdrawal was handled in a competent manner or not?

What conditions in the Trump deal are not being met...

Aug 16, 2021, 2:34 PM

right now?

Serious question...

I thought the main condition was that they not let AQ in. I don't believe there were any conditions about them not trying to take over the country/regions of the country.

Re: What conditions in the Trump deal are not being met...

Aug 16, 2021, 2:51 PM

I have no doubt the Taliban would have ultimately prevailed if Trump had gone ahead with a full withdrawal, but the pace of the withdrawal or even going ahead with the withdrawal would I believe not have occurred in this fashion where we are struggling to get folks out.

The decision to continue the withdrawal would have been based on conditions on the ground I believe. We will never know however.

The Taliban if they wanted to, could shut down the airfield and blow our planes out of the sky. We should not be in a situation where we are basically relying on the mercy and restraint of the Taliban.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Honestly, it is absolutely pathetic to blame Trump for this

Aug 16, 2021, 9:25 PM [ in reply to What conditions in the Trump deal are not being met... ]

in any way. And I get it...I started down the same track. Trump was also working toward a withdrawal and had negotiated terms with the Taliban.

But to pretend like Biden was held to any of that is completely laughable. Biden made the first month of his presidency a celebration of anti-Trumpism. If Trump ordered it, it was un-ordered. Funded? Now defunded. If he called them peCANs then we would be calling them pecahns. Biden wasn’t held to any deal. Heck, the most reasonable assumption would have been to think that Biden would announce a ramping-up of ground forces, so complete was his effort to be “Not Trump.”

On top of that, no one can claim Trump would have done the same thing...you never knew with Trump. We DO know what this administration did, which was a complete failure.

I honestly don’t know if there was a solution that was going to work. I DO know that Biden’s administration chose a solution that could not have been a bigger failure. Maybe this was inevitable but on that we are only speculating.

I was on my phone and got lazy. I wasn't actually directing those comments at you specifically...just that this was a discussion on Trump's actions relative to the current Afghanistan disaster and the thought bubbled up while I was reading it. Sorry for the sloppiness.

You couldn't be more wrong!

Trump said he would leave ONLY if the Taliban agreed to not attack and occupy any of the provincial capitols. They agreed to do that. If they didn't, Trump wouldn't leave, and if we left and they renigged on the deal, we would decimate them militarily! And they knew d$mn well Trump would destroy them!

Had Magoo followed Trump's plan he wouldn't be the Joke of the Globe today. He didn't and his legacy will be forever: Kabul Joe with helicopters flying around the US embassy, with Afhgans desperately trying to get on airplanes and falling to their deaths as the planes ascended. Good job, JOE!

Let's not forget that Magoo could have just cancelled Trump's order (like he did for everything else Trump did); he didn't. The rest is a diabolical nightmare for Biden and America that will not soon be forgotten. I know our allies will not soon forget what this demented old man did.

A LEGACY FROM THE DEEPEST PART OF HELL!!

The entire agreement to read for myself, but the reporting at the time I can find doesn't mention that at all. Where are you getting this information from?

What a bullchit response.

How many actions of Trump did Biden undo?

Biden easily could have just said I'm canceling the agreement, just like Trump (who has balls) did with Paris BS Climate Accord.
