Gary...I didn't say this before because

Feb 3, 2016, 4:25 PM

I'd never want to post something to hurt our chances, but now that's it's over I won't hold back.

I wanted him because well...look at him. He's clearly talented. But the whole time was worried that he didn't fit our profile. He wasn't a Clemson man.

His mama did all the talking (reminded me of Knemdici, and the drama surrounding him (dragging it out til NSD when it was clearly getting tiring). I just think if we landed him, it would've been 50/50 if he worked out it was a bust.

I was kind of put off by the whole limo thing. I remember Claussen doing that when he signed with ND and we all know how great that worked out.

Just get the feeling that ride back home to NJ will not be a fun one.

This should be one of the greatest/fun days in the young man's life. On the outside it did not look like fun at all.

I wanted this kid as much as everybody else and would have been elated if he had come to Clemson but I kind of got the same feeling. That whole situation may be a real handful when it's all said and done.

Jut my opinion but I think beating out Fla St for

Mullen more than makes up for Gary. I wasn't particularly crazy about all the "mama" drama around Gary either. Just made me uneasy. I wish Gary well though. He seems to be a good kid.

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

Exactly. Some of these posts are just ludicrous.

Here is my take why he didn't look happy.

Feb 3, 2016, 5:02 PM

I said it before somewhere. It made more logical sense to go to Michigan, rather than Clemson. Michigan basically doesn't have DTs. One guy left early. They have two pretty okay DTs, but Gary can easily beat those two for a starting job. I couldn't say the same thing for Clemson.

I proceeded to say that, if he picked Clemson, it must mean something--the only explanation would have been he fell in love with Clemson.

That said, I truly believe that this was the reason he looked unhappy. His heart told him it's Clemson, while his head (and his families') told him Michigan offered the best option for his NFL future.

I wish nothing but the best for this young man.

As much as I'd have been thrilled to have a player in his caliber. Clemson will be fine without him. We have Watkins, Wilkins, Pagano, Huggins and Lawrence. We're nothing but short of DTs. With our coaching staff along with a solid DE unit, d-line will be one of strongest units for at least a few years.
