Target was Cole Turner. Cade admitted he hadn't gotten that many reps with the 1st string. Turner hasn't been playing, so my guess is that Cole hasn't been getting 1st string reps, either. Therefore, they may have had success due to having reps together. Just hadn't seen this mentioned.

mark richt that he took 30% reps with the first string the week of the champ game and that was his first reps with the 1s since fall camp.

Again, according to Cade, if memory serves correctly...he got ZERO 1st team reps all season until the week of the ACCCG. Was shocked to hear that since he was 2nd string and was an injury away from starting. Considering we needed him to win the SYR game, knew of DJ's propensity for ups and downs and called upon him in the ND game, I thought the lack of 1st team reps wasn't wise in retrospect. I always thought the position they put him in at ND wasn't good either...finding out he hadn't had 1st team reps all season only confirms this.
Another thing to consider...while Cade certainly needs more time to ripen (he's late on some throws, runs into the pass rush, typical true freshman QB issues, etc....) he looked amazing on THAT stage last Saturday considering the lack of reps (he said he got 30% 1st team reps that week). While unc's D is below average, Cade has shown he has the tools even with a WR room that is below the standard enjoyed by DW and TL.

Just a thought about your thought...you mentioned that DW & TL had a much better WR group than Cade had...how could you possibly know this when most of the WR's have spent 2 years catching p*ss Poor Passes from a dysfunctional quarterback...your making an assumption on these WR's based on dead ducks and flying missles...if DJ was a great QB Davis Allen would have had 50 receptions this year and many more touchdowns...just imagine what he would do with the pinpoint accuracy of Cade...he could learn to live in the corner of the endzone where few backs could cover him! Sorry just my thought covering yours!

So 2nd team reps are better than 1st teams reps because they are against the 1st team D. The lack of 1st team reps had nothing to do with throwing a pick against ND. He was not ready for the moment as the coaches stated. Had he been ready he would have thrown it away or ran with it.

Dabo never gave Cade a chance to compete for the starting job. The entire DJ/Cade situation has lowered my opinion of Dabo dramatically.

Not everyone disagrees with this opinion. Think about how bad this offense looked at times this season. If you're truly after the top spot, "the "natty", why would allow a major program to have zero downfield passing. I glad it's over and Cade is the future. However only orange colored glasses holders support the way this mess was handled. We baby sat DJ all year. For me, it's good-bye and good riddance. Good luck DJ now go away !
