Just for fun ...

Aug 4, 2021, 5:08 PM

Create a starting team and/or depth chart (if you really want to go deep) from the combined Clemson and Dawg roster for the offensive side of the ball. We'll do one for defense in another thread.

BTW, the "I'll take my team's roster" answer is boring. At least have some fun with it.

QB
1. DJU - He's a special player and will probably be the #1 overall draft pick when he comes out.
2. JT Daniels - He's good, but not on DJ's level
3. Carson Beck - Young, but on a good trajectory from all reports.

RB
1. Zamir White - Not at the Chubb/Gurley level, but a very good RB that's a load to bring down
2. Kendall Milton - Got his feet wet last year, and will be a very good one
3. Kenny McIntosh - Best all-around back on the team
HM - Will Shipley - Could end up earning a spot here, but not in the first game as a true FR

WR (boundary)
1. Justyn Ross - I know he's slated for the slot, but 80% of his career snaps have been out wide
2. Arik Gilbert - Freak, just like Ross.
3. Ajou Ajou - Freak, just like Gilbert and Ross.
HM - Marcus Rosemy and Adonai Mitchell -

WR (field)
1. Joseph Ngata - Showed promise as a FR, but injuries got in the way as a SO
2. E.J. Williams - Can build on his FR campaign
3. Frank Ladson - The potential is there, just need to capitalize

WR (slot)
1. Kearis Jackson - True slot guy. Graded out just behind Amari Rodgers last year according to PFF.
2. Jermaine Burton - Plays out wide currently, but could move here with the logjam on the outside
3. Arian Smith - World class speed with a 10.10 100m time in the NCAA T&F spring season
HM - Dom Blaylock - Would be on the list if cleared from injury recovery

TE
1. Darnell Washington - Freak of an athlete. Will be a force
2. Braden Galloway - Led all the TEs in receiving last year
3. Davis Allen - Graded out better than Galloway according to PFF
HM - Brock Bowers - Just a true FR, but will be a standout in the future

LT
1. Jordan McFadden - Not the prototypical size, but a really good player. Highest rated OL from PFF
2. Amarius Mims - Only a true FR, but the prototype 1st round LT. He's going to be really good

LG
1. Jamaree Salyer - Will be in consideration for the 1st guard selected in the '22 draft
2. Tate Ratledge - Top 50 player in the nation RsFR battling for a starting spot on UGA's line

C
1. Warren Ericson - Presumptive starter at C for UGA
2. Sedrick Van Pran - #1 OC in the class of 2020. Battling for the starting spot.

RG
1. Justin Shaffer - Super SR getting national AA looks in the preseason.
2. Will Putnam - Starter at RG for Clemson

RT
1. Warren McClendon - Returning starter for UGA at RT
2. Walker Parks - Presumptive starter at RT for Clemson

Don’t know enough about UGA roster…
If I’m bored maybe I’ll do some HW and post again….

Don’t make the same mistake as your coaching staff though ….

Gilbert is a TE… probably the best one on Clemson or UGA….

Kyle Pitts 2.0 Gilbert is not…
4.7 40 guy…

Pitts has run sub 4.5 40….

Don’t get me wrong though
- I definitely don’t want to see Gilbert at TE with Skalski trying to cover him..

Yeah, Arik's lack of top end speed could be an issue. He isn't Pitts 2.0 as you said, but who is? I do think he'll be really good on back shoulder throws and 50/50 balls against the naturally smaller CBs.

I wouldn’t pick any one from the dawg depth chart. So whatever Coach Swinney posts at the end of camp is what I’d go with

I watched the Cincinnati - UGA game replay and their O-linemen are huge but not all that athletic. They were good when the D-linemen stood right in front of them ..... no so good with smaller athletic D-linemen. I think ours will give them trouble .... good sized and very athletic.

Yeah, the LT for that game Xavier Truss had a really bad day. He's most likely not going to play against Clemson. You'll most likely see Salyer slide back out to LT if Amarius Mims isn't ready.

They kind of wore the Bearcats out .... probably lack of depth. At the end of the game they were protecting Daniels a lot better. I think that is what makes this game intriguing. Clemson's depth at D-line is much better this year, so I expect to see a lot of bodies out there.

It certainly will be interesting.

As good as Clemson's DL is and as good as Georgia's DL is, they couldn't play any more differently. Clemson's DL is great at getting up field and disrupting. Georgia's DL is more about gap sound control of the LOS freeing up the LBs to do the work. So just by playing against their own great DL, I'm not sure either OL will be truly ready for what's coming.
