Joint practices with ????

Aug 15, 2017, 9:44 PM

Just watching the Texans/Patriots joint practices...it seems pretty cool except when fights break out ala Rams/Chargers last week.

Since we don't have a "preseason" at Clemson:

1. Is there any NCAA rule against joint practices with another team in fall camp? I think there are limits on "competitions" during the season, but I'm not sure about practices before the season.

2. If joint practices were allowed like they are in the NFL, who would you like to see Clemson work with?

Coaches would never let it happen.

Can you imagine if the pros didn't have preseason games?

My thought would be Bama since Dabo and Saban have a good relationship and the teams respect each other.

When I was a D1 strength coach we had joint

Aug 15, 2017, 11:20 PM

7 on 7 in the summer, we set it up but had to leave the field cause there was a ball. It was player ran. Was at a power 5 school and the other schools were D1 but not power 5. We did it with 3 different ones.

I wish they allowed each team to have 2 preseason scrimmage games. You could even do it against lesser schools and not tackle the QB. We could play teams like North Greenville, Furman, Georgia State, etc. Make it 4 quarters with the clock running non-stop. Maybe we could scrimmage IMG Academy! Lol

Not anyone we would likely see, so maybe a mid level Big 12 or Pac team? Texas Tech, Colorado, WVU, Oregon etc

In my opinion not having pre season scrimmages are what makes college football unique. The first games are often a little ragged but I say leave as is.

Amen......never do anything like the pro game. College is far superior in all aspects.

suggesting that all Power 5 teams stop playing smaller FCS schools. He suggested that these schools could be setup for your Spring game and/or a scrimmage type game.

That way they could still get some money from the big schools.

At time I thought that sounded like a good idea.

It would be a great idea... controlled joint practices at a neutral location for a week or a two year home and home agreement with teams not on schedule. QBs in red jerseys. It deserves some study
