Joe21's post about The Little Things yesterday made me want

Oct 14, 2021, 7:33 AM

to start a list. Yes, a list!

- Putting on a brand new pair of socks

- Rediscovering the leftover box in the fridge from the restaurant the night before

- Fresh, out of the dryer, still warm towels after a shower

- The 'Fresh Donuts Now' sign lighting up as you drive by

- Your kids sitting down and discovering an old movie with you

- In the cafeteria line, waiting as they put out a fresh pan of what you were about to order

- Seeing a waiting package on your doorstep

- While driving, catching your reflection in a business window right after you have washed and detailed your car

- A good sneeze after the sunlight hits your face

- New sheets

- Waking up to realize it is a holiday or a day off of work you had let slip your mind

- Picking the correct lane in traffic

- Peeling the plastic off a new device screen

- Finding a loose dollar bill in your pants pocket

- Having a good near-the-door parking spot open up in a crowded parking lot right after the car in front of you passed it by due to their impatience

- Seeing the first hummingbird of the year

- Finding an old forgotten favorite song on the radio

- First glance on the Ocean after you have been away from the beach for a while

- Fitting the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle

- Early Sunday morning rain on the roof

- An extra marischino cherry on your ice cream dessert

- Having an elevator to yourself all the way down

- That perfect fishing cast

- Seeing the first grass pop up after aerating and seeding

- Realizing the electronic device you just bought comes with batteries or already charged

- A perfect can of unbroken Pringles

- Hearing an Ice Cream Truck in the distance

- The smell of walking past an old-fashioned Cigar and Tabaco shop (I miss that)

- Opening a new bar of soap

- Raindrops on Roses

- Whiskers on Kittens

Have any more?

Randomly smelling something in the air

That time travels you to another time of happiness from your past and for a moment you are 100% there

I was walking through a huge park yesterday and there were kids playing everywhere, old people and other random people by ponds just looking and relaxing letting the say go by, people training for cross country, people taking naps, people having picnics, and it it kind of transported me back to being a kid. You kid here the kids in the distance screaming and having fun. Dogs everywhere. It was so spread out that it looked huge. It was beautiful. It reminded of something my Dad would take me to as a kid.

A good sneeze after the sunlight hits your face, I'm the only one I've ever known to do that, and the doctors tell me that it's caused by being bright light sensitive. I've always hated those sneezing fits, but it cleans your sinuses out!!!;)

No, it's real thing that affects any number of people ("18–35% of the world's population").

If I feel a sneeze coming on, but it just won't happen,

Oct 14, 2021, 1:44 PM [ in reply to Re: Joe21's post about The Little Things yesterday made me want ]

I immediately look out the window or up at the lights to get the sneeze out.

There's also those little gross pleasures...

like

-- Peeing off the deck at night

-- 'Cropdusting' down an escalator

Yep, I had to go and ruin it!

I just thought of another one while I was sitting there...

A really satisfying "morning constitutional".

My little things right now have to do with my new dog Tater Bug

Waking up in the morning to her trying to get closer.

Hearing my boyfriend laugh uncontrollably at her when she is zooming around the house.

A good day of potty training.

love (except for Jesus Christ taking my sin penalty on a cross) like a pet running to see you when you have been gone for awhile. My Mom's dog goes crazy when I pull up in their driveway. She about tears the door down ... and she is a toy poodle.

Great post, especially seeing the ocean.
A favorite: first time back in your own bed after a trip.
