Jeff Scott is NOT going to SMU

it doesn't make sense.

Let's see, if he doesn't get the Clemson OC job he is going to go to SMU as what? It won't be OC. Morris will call the plays at SMU.

if Jeff does leave it won't be to follow Morris.

Chad may call the offense, but you still have to have an OC for recruiting and practicing purposes. Even if it is job advancement in title only, coaches will take that kind of job to better position themselves for better jobs in the future. Football is entertainment for the fans, but it is Jeff's career and I'm sure his life goal is to go as far in his chosen profession as he can go, which hopefully is higher than position coach.

What the OP is saying is that no decent OC or aspiring coach is going to go with Chad because they know they will not get any credit because it is Chad running the show.

I disagree, but not going to argue the point emphatically. Just like in other professions, a lot has to do with what titles are on your resume that gets you a face to face interview where you actually have a chance to impress on your own merits.

Exactly.

His career wouldn't advance any more at SMU than it would at Clemson.

People asking like SMU has all this money to spend on coaches. They gonna have to hire a DC, OC, and that's not counting the position coaches. I personally think Clemson could keep Scott as WR coach and give him a raise. I seriously doubt SMU is gonna pay Scott to much more than what he's making now.
