Jealousy from other fanbases

I've noticed many fanbases claiming we're cheating with recruiting. They just don't get it. When a team cheats, like Ole Miss recently, you see meteoric rise from nowhere. That's not what happened here. We have been working our way up and continually improving our recruiting classes. How? We keep developing players. We take 3 stars and turn then into 4 stars. We take 4 stars and turn then into 5 stars. We takr 5 stars and make them first round picks. We spend the money to have the best assistants, recruiters, evaluators, and developers in college football. We spend the money to have the best fascilities. We pack our stadium with ravenous, passionate, loud fans and offer a gameday like no other. We have been steadily building up our program. THOSE are the reasons we get so many of the players we want now.

Actually, it came from My Cousin Vinnie, when Joe Pesci says "youths", he says it like "yoots", then they say those lines.

It's also telling we still do not recruit at an Alabama/FSU/Ohio State level. We're usually around 10th-13th in recruiting...we had one odd class in 2011 that was rated as high as #2 in the country but that was also driven by a ton of in-state guys like Charone Peake, Martavis Bryant, Kevin Dodd, etc, and there were guys like Stephone Anthony coming in from NC. We did pull in guys like Sammy Watkins, Mike Bellamy, and Tony Steward, but we did not venture outside that 5-hour radius to recruit anybody (except 3-star Cole Stoudt from Ohio) and sorry, it should not surprise anyone anymore that Dabo Swinney is able to successfully recruit 5-star WR's like Sammy Watkins to play in his system.
On paper, we are not recruiting well enough to win like we've won. So clearly Clemson is outperforming its recruiting...which more sophisticated fans are certainly aware of.

Everything you said is true except clemson generally has smaller classes then those teams you named. Our average stars is up there with pretty much any school. We are recruiting at a high level. Clemson just doesn't force kids out the door like the "big boys"

Nice post.
35 years between National Championships for us, but they never mention it took Lsu 45 years between their first and second..just saying. Clemson has a football program that others should just appreciate because we develop players who are prepared for life if football doesn't pan out. Serve the community, win or lose with class and graduate, should be the model for all programs. Go Tigers

The Clemson brand in football also is very attractive to recruits. The offensive style is very attractive to qbs and WRs and starting to really get quality linemen. We play an exciting brand of defense . We are putting players in the NFL in large numbers. That is a huge selling point.
