James Farr

Jun 25, 2015, 9:29 PM

For we "older" Tigers, this situation with Battle some what reminds me of James Farr. Farr was a 17 year old freshman forced into duty in 1980 against Georgia in Athens. We had 2 centers go down, and Danny called his name! His baptism by fire came on the road against a guy they called meat clever... who outweighed him by 100 lbs! He started at guard on the national championship team, and was an outstanding player his entire career. That said, I hate what has happened, but I fully believe that Hyatt is up to the task. Will there be some bumps, sure, but I also believe that Dan Benish has instilled in him what Clemson football is all about! To Battle, I wish you nothing but the best young man. Like you, I have made my share of mistakes. I will always consider you part of the family. To you Mitch Hyatt, the time to start making memories is now! GO TIGERS!

There are other guys in the program who have been there longer. Once camp starts they may have a lot to say about that

Good point 74! No doubt this is an open door to those desiring playing time. I still firmly believe however, that Hyatt is the man.

Eric was indeed a 4 year starter. However, he was a Redshirt Freshman and not a true Frosh.

I remember James, I was 12, never forget that

As a kid I was a crazy Clemson fan. I remember Clemson had an away game not on TV and ESPN had put in the call in live sports Scores for .50 a call. Anyway for the month of October I ran up the phone bill .50 cents at a time to over $400.

My dad called me by my first name, Middle and Last. My Dad was hot. I worked it out that I would work to pay him back. I'm sure I never paid it all but I never called ESPN anymore..lol

I remember us screaming when we played North Carolina in 1981 and beat them 10-8. That was an awesome hard hitting game. It's the game that made that team so special. The road graders and defense carried us undefeated the rest of the year.

Homer Jordon against Nebraska, I have to go watch that. I believe Dabo is going to mess around and win it all!! Go Tigers I have to go put that game in the DVD.
