I could definitely see Division 1 College Football splitting

into divisions because of the NIL. Maybe based on amounts involved? It certainly seems like a distinct possibility. With the big money schools going all out in buying and paying players in one division and the rest fracturing away to another.

Yea it’s a mystery to me on where all this goes, but there is a small number of schools that could really set theirselves apart in terms of available resources. We have already seen what Texas A&M is capable of.

Everything as we know it will change over the next 3-6 months worldwide. It’s going to get interesting for sure!

I hope College football isn’t ruined forever, it would be a shame for the kids striving to get an education & grow as a football players.

Flag football might be the next big thing with a unisex team-> just joking on this one...lol

I don't see the SEC and B1G breaking apart. However...

The historical bonds at these two conference are extremely tight and school presidents (not ADs) make these decisions.

The split I think could happen is the SEC splitting away and forming its own 4-team playoff and ditching the others. I know championships aren't won in February, but the SEC had the top 3 recruiting classes in 2022 (also 5 of the top 8 and 11 of the top 19).

Depends on what happens with the CFP. In the unlikely event it stays at 4 teams after 2025, put it in the bank the SEC will break off and have its own playoff.

I've wondered about the SEC-only formula.

Would the SEC be able to get viewers in that structure? I'm not sold on them being able to do so because I think there will be people, even in the South, who won't watch it out of principle or spite.

I for one would not watch it. A sec only would push people away which would be ok with me as hopefully they would start loosing all of that tv revenue. As it is I don’t watch sec games unless Clemson is playing one of them. They can go and rot in he77 as far as I am concerned.
