"vaccine passport," but I haven't really seen anyone saying they are for them. Is there any evidence that the federal government is thinking about requiring them in some way? Anyone have a link?

If they do go forward with this idea, let's kill two birds with one stone and validate the persons name/identity and they can also use the vaccine passport as an ID when they vote!

I'd be for it. Israel is doing something similar with an app called the "green pass" that you have to show to be let in to restaurants, hotels, concerts, etc.

It's a government program. People can certainly choose not to get the vaccine there, but that choice has consequences.

facilitating the development, for private entities to use.
It's another thing if they (the government) are the ones requiring it.
I've read the former is happening, but I can't find anything supporting that they are doing the latter.

Immunization records have been required for K-12 public schools...

Almost all private schools and many colleges and universities for over 60 years ... since my childhood.
Somehow now this is controversial. Perhaps a little research into polio, small pox or other diseases prevented through vaccines might prove enlightening.
Certainly private enterprises have the latitude to establish requirements for employees and entry onto their property.

I would like to be able to go to a nice sit-down restaurant after I complete my vaccines - and know that everyone else had also been vaccinated.
If one is worried about info sharing, etc. - why not let them opt for a paper only version ??
I think y'all are correct. The government can help develop, promote, support this idea to make it easier for more businesses to implement without the government trying to mandate this.
Finally, this seems to be something that everyone here generally agrees about - how rare is that ?

they require "vaccine passports" to get into Clemson Football games.
Also, two weeks after my 2nd vaccine my mask is OFF for good........if I have to carry my "COVID card" in my pocket I will, but I'm DONE with COVID protocols after I'm vaccinated.............enough with moving the goal posts.

I am ok with private entities requiring this. Obviously the government can't require this and if so would have to exempt those surging at the southern border. I doubt many of them have a passport much less a vaccine passport.
My apologies to AOC. I used a variation of surge and southern in the same sentence.
It makes sense for many employers in the public sector to potentially mandate this. I was surprised to read that only about half of the Greenville Sheriff Department has been vaccinated at this point despite many of the employees having very close contact with the public.
I can see airlines potentially requiring this, but if so, should drop the mask requirement.
If the government can mandate a vaccine requirement what's to stop them from mandating folks stop smoking completely to avoid second hand smoke effects on their families or go back to Prohibition, after all alcohol causes a lot of collateral damage to others. Bloomberg tried this garbage in NYC re: limiting large soft drink sales.
Private -fine with me. Government--no.
