Broke down and got a new Keurig after 8 years

Feb 7, 2019, 10:46 AM

Old one died. Descaling and paper clip trick didn't work this time.

I know the coffee is not great, yadda yadda. I'd prefer to grind my own beans and use a coffee pot, but that takes too long when I have 12 minutes 37 seconds to get out of bed, get dressed, make lunch, and take kids to school. So I have to compromise.

Anyway, new Keurig has a "strong" setting that's awesome. My coffee now taste much closer to fresh ground beans. Strong and Pete's Major Dickason's Blend and I'm good to go.

That's all.

go to starbucks

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the way to do it.

When you want extremely overpriced coffee that tastes like it was made from the ashes of a California wild fire.

Egg Zachary. Less sleep and spending even more money....

Feb 7, 2019, 10:55 AM

sounds like a plan. I already loathe the price of a cup of coffee in the Keurig. That's what...$0.40 a cup.

That's why I try and spend as little as possible.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:05 AM

Except on important things ;)

AC units, toilets, appliances, tires, carpet/flooring, paint, things you use everyday that you want to last.

I've been called a cheapskate, err...frugal at times, then other times people gawk at what I spend lavishly on. Priorities....

Me either.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:14 AM [ in reply to I've never seen a hearse with a u haul*** ]

The kids have the u haul at your house packing up what they want to keep and the rest goes in the estate sale. I guess if you hate your kids you can go to Vegas and blow your money on hookers and coke. BTW, the hearse and funeral will likely cost as much more than a u haul trailer. So you can buy a few more lines in Vegas and do a cremation I guess.

Same here. We bought the little one that doesn't

have the water reservoir on it. Our old reusable kcup doesn't fit in the new one. Did they change the design?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Found it. They did change the design.

Feb 7, 2019, 10:59 AM

Fuckers. Do not buy KCups, buy something like this and buy whole beans and grind them yourself.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:01 AM [ in reply to Same here. We bought the little one that doesn't ]

you can grind your own? I think they still have those, but you have to buy them separate. Our last one came with one. These fit a big assortment. I might buy one just for grinding my own which I hardly do anymore.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:03 AM

Does not fit new Keurig. See post above for new design.

One pot of coffee would last a week in our house.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:06 AM

We do use one of those at a friends beach house. About as simple to use as a space shuttle, but keeps coffee fresh for a good while.

water in the reservoir the night before. Wake up, turn on, take shower, enjoy fresh coffee when you get dressed.

If you program them, it is even better. I do not trust that however, as my wife sometimes likes to unplug things for no reason that I can find.
