that in year 14, our basketball program will be "poised for success". I think we could agree we could define "success" as reaching the Elite 8---or at a minimum, the Sweet 16. I can't find any examples of a coach who, in year 14 of their tenure who hasn't reached the Elite 8, magically do so. Not one. What makes Neff think that Brownell can do this?
I think there is a higher probability that we'll see pigs fly before that happens.

Neff either has his head stuck up his a$$, he is part of the lunatic fringe (i.e., blind to reality, ignorant, and deluded), or some combination of the two.
Just my .02 cents.

Neff is bought and sold by a leadership that wants to keep

Brownell - and they want to keep Brownell regardless his results.
That's exactly right - they don't care what his results are.
We're already 12th in the conference in NCAAT bids since he came on board. Does that make you think that they care?
No, not me either....

that the decision regarding the future of CBB was taken out of the hands of Neff and is being made by the President and members of the CUBOT.
It is abundantly clear that, whoever is making the decision, is determined to retain Brownell regardless his inconsistent and mediocre results.

Nice of you to chime in, Mrs. Brownlee. Thanks for your worthless 60% pulse input.

12 out of 13 seasons ranked outside of the Top 35 final AP poll and absolutely no reason to believe it won't be 13 out of 14.

Success or being prepared for success is a continuum. My guess is the following:
Some big donors support CBB so replacing him after a 23 win season would be difficult. Especially true when we are trying to raise money for a new facility from these same donors Lots of coaching changes this year so the competition would make finding the right coach a problem We actually have a good nucleus returning so if CBB can find the right guys in the portal we should expect a good season next year By next year we should have funding commitments in place for the ops center which would show a new coach we are committed to success in basketball
I have no doubt next year would be his last if do not have a really good season

But based upon what? Hopes? Dreams? On what basis would a "big donor" (to use your term) be convinced to pony up more $$ for yet another mediocre season? I don't get it.

Clemson is losing;
Hunter Tyson 15.3 points Brevin Galloway 11.2 points Ben Middlebrooks 3.1 points but ate up a lot of minutes for PJ Hall
I don’t know about returning a good core next year. These were two of the top scorers of the five starters.

Leonard Hamilton (FSU) would be the only shining example I can think of that made the Elite 8 in year 16. Of course most coaches with little to no success would be let go long before years 14-16 though.

That would explain why I hadn't found him.......and you are correct: most would have been let go far earlier.

The fact we kept him around after this years s**t-show to end the season shows we really don't care about basketball all that much.

I'm still thinking/hoping that Neff considered a change but:
couldn't find the coach he wanted so decide to hold off a year
or
decided to hold on a little longer to use the new center to attract a new coach.
I'm sure it's possible that he was told by the board or president that they don't give a #### about basketball and as long as the players aren't getting arrested ignore it so we can concentrate on the things we do care about.
There's a good chance it's indifference.
