It’s been seven long years since we’ve had to deal with…

Nov 26, 2022, 5:12 PM

an off-season full of garbage takes on Dabo and our team.

Here’s some uncomfortable truths for pissed off fans:

- If Cade was ready - he’d play. Anyone who has seen him play and thinks he’s ready today is nuts. Kid is going to be good, but he’s not close to ready.

- Where we’re our elite d linemen today? Breese wasn’t in on some of the games most critical plays. Dude has had a rough year and should come back healthy and focused next year. Could you play well if you had his year? He’s just a kid!

- If DJU hit the portal today, there would be a line of teams wanting him that wrapped around the upstate. He hasn’t reached his potential, but any coach worth his salt knows there’s more in there. This is a coaching issue. He’s still an elite talent who didn’t quit after a horrible year and came back immensely improved.

- Hindsight, especially in recruiting, is 20/20. Our offense is LOADED with 4/5* talent. Loaded. Did we miss on all of them? No.

- No one wants to win more than Dabo. No one. If he thinks Cade gave us that chance or a coach we had wasn’t doing the job, he’d make that call. It’s who he is. Is he arrogant? Yes. All of the good ones are. They HAVE to be. He’s also fired the Napiers, the Steeler’s and “recommended” Morris take a new job. Dude won’t sit on his hands.

- Winning is hard. Being elite and sustaining it? #### near impossible. A lot has to go our way. Blast our coaches or our QB all you want but that Dabo guy came from nowhere and didn’t just make us relevant again, he made us CHAMPIONS. That same DJ you say “sucks” put us on his BACK at Wake and willed us to win. That Streeter guy you want fired? He came in and took Cole Stoudt off of the trash heap and in three weeks, made him look like an All American. He’s also coached two Natty winning QBs. Does that mean he can be the OC here? Not saying that… but he’s still done right by us. Now… he needs to do better.

- We ran into the hottest team in America today. They’ve hired a Dabo clone and are following our model of success. Good on them. We played our worst game of the season today and STILL on.y lost by ONE. Which of the plays that turned our game around do you blame on the coaches? Mafah fumbling when no one touched the ball or Williams fumbling when no one touched the ball? Which one of those was a coaches fault?

Don’t panic. Don’t say things that make recruits want to play elsewhere.

We can still go 12-2 and get a banner to hang. Is it our best work? No. Is it good enough? Well… considering how spoiled we are, no…. It’s not.

I hate those dirt peckers but they got us. Good luck getting seven in a row. We will see those feathered turds in Willy Brice next year. We will be there to collect the rent, and this time, we don’t want cash. We will be there to take it out of their as(s).

I am a bitter and angry man.

I agree with all that, except..

Nov 26, 2022, 5:15 PM

Do you think there are coaches who make DJ throw accurately? Maybe a new start is in order for him, but he needs to fix himself. There are no coaches who can fix what ails him. He needs to figure it out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No but I’ve seen too many games this year

Nov 26, 2022, 5:16 PM

Where he has time and a clean pocket. He destroys people. He didnt have that all day.

Dude DJ had plenty of time the only time DJ didn't have time was when they blitzed 6.

null

Exactly. DJ has had time most of the year.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:39 PM

And he's mostly responsible for elongating plays when there's pressure. Like Rattler did.

This has nothing to do with "time" in the pocket.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Two routes down the sidelines... Pick one and pray.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:37 PM [ in reply to No but I’ve seen too many games this year ]

It's not ALL on DJ... our current offensive scheme totally SUX!

I'm sorry bud, but that's just not accurate.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:42 PM

DJ was missing guys all over the field. And on sideline 1:1's it's up to the QB to put it somewhere where the WR can make a play. He hardly ever does that.

All your points, point to one major shortcoming, and that is

Nov 26, 2022, 5:20 PM

the lack of player development. If Cade Klubnick is not ready to play after all this practice AND 12 games, WHY is that? If we have all this defensive talent, then WHY can't we generate pressure on QB's with any consistency, while other teams seem to be able to do so against common opponents?

One word comes to mind. Complacency. We have gotten far too comfortable, and are not doing the things anymore which GOT us to the top of the football mountain.

What is happening right now should give you a new appreciation for how the Nebraskas, Alabamas, and Miamis of old stayed on top of the pile for all those years. As far as national prominence, we at Clemson had a great SIX YEAR run, from 2015-2020. We can claim a decade of being above average, but the real ride didn't start until 2015.

Unless changes are made, that ride at the top is over, and we will be back to being mid-top 25, at best. We gotta get hungry again to get that edge back.

Bud, most of the time true freshman QBs don't matriculate in their 1st year.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:48 PM

When we find a QB worth his salt, everything changes.

You just gave a terrible take. I’ll answer one of you questions with ease about Klubnik. The reason he might not be ready yet is easy dude, he’s a freshman & some dudes aren’t ready as 19 year old freshman!!! That’s not an issue with developing players.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:22 PM

No on teams lined up to take DJ in the portal.
No on Scar being the hottest team in America. If we don't turn it over three times (again) we beat them easily.

Dabo is the best thing to ever happen to Clemson and likely will get the ship turned if NIL and transfer chaos doenn't make it impossible to do at Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No TOs and we squeak by... That whole excuse is BS.***

Hard to say if CK was ready but I'd rather take a chance

Nov 26, 2022, 5:23 PM

than to keep running DJ out there. He's a low floor/low ceiling guy. There wouldn't be top teams lining up to get him.

Quit being a Dabo/DJ apologist. I love what Dabo has accomplished but he's done as an elite coach if he isn't willing to adapt to the new NCAA. You can't have 8-12 guys transfer out in addition to your normal graduates and injuries and expect to replace them with HS kids. That's why we have to keep playing Fr and So and they get their ### kicked in games by older more experienced players. It happened today, USC got lots of transfers and they kicked our Secondary and our QB around.

Dabo just doesn't seem to have that same fire anymore. Remember when he used to chew out punters?

And DJ flat sucks. Send him on his way. I hope he does leave and takes Streeter, Grisham, and Goodwin with them.

Take off the blinders, Kathleen. Dabo has made poor decisions that have made our program the laughing stock of the state. When recruits leave, you can try to blame the fans all you want, that will not make it true. We love the guy, but 11 million a year means not losing to the worst program in the country. When you do, serious changes have to be made. 7 for 28 passing is not a guy that should even dress at a D1 school.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sleep it off, bro.

Nov 26, 2022, 5:44 PM

Vince Lombardi couldn't fix what we saw today. Now, Vince may have given the not-ready true freshman a chance, but otherwise there was nothing anyone could do to fix what is clearly broken.

Actually 9 years. The last time they won was 2013.

Stopped reading after other teams wanting DJ lmao

Nov 26, 2022, 5:32 PM

Dude a Jr... he doesn't have it. Period. Another year isn't going to change that.

No team fans are going to say anything good about what happened today playing. Especially their rivals. I don't think it's going to change anyone's minds but Streeter needs to step down. Over his head.
